Delta Omega Zeta is a local Evansville sorority that strives to better themselves and others through charitable events; to encourage scholarship, social activity, and the association of students for their advancement by practice; to promote a closer bond between members and the community; and to further a higher standard of ethics and culture. The organization was officially founded in spring of 2
001 with five members, but when school started in the fall, one of those members left, and five new girls were added. Thus the "Founding Four" became the "Original Nine" and consisted of: Abby Good, Sarah Johnson, Cassie Franzman, and Julie Lane; Julie Geltmaker, Mandy Mason, Lesley Lamar, Steph Pariseau, and Nikki Barker. There was overwhelming interest in this new group on campus and eighteen new girls were added to the original nine, making the organization a sizable presence on campus. In the spring of 2003, after much debate from the Pan-Hellenic Council and a great deal of positive publicity spread by muse members, the Muses were made an interest group by the Pan-Hellenic Council and agreed to a list of criteria set forth by Pan-Hellenic Council. The organisation became known on the campus as a "Women's Philanthropic Organization", and continued to spread goodwill and positive attitudes throughout the campus. In the spring of 2005, the University extended the organization an invitation to become a local sorority on campus. The organization accepted and Delta Omega Zeta was born. The Founder's Day for Delta Omega Zeta is August 27th, 2005. Since this time Delta Omega Zeta continues to strive in growing and promoting good will and positive attributes on the campus. In the fall of 2008, executive members of Pan-Hellenic Council approached our sorority with potentially exciting news. They had been reviewing their by-laws for revision and found a law for consideration. On December 2nd, 2008, we were officially informed that after consideration we had been given associate membership to the Pan-Hellenic Council. Official Colors: Blue and Yellow
