The Vanderburgh County Board of Health introduced Dr. Jason Bredenkamp as the new Health Officer of the Vanderburgh County Health Department. The Vanderburgh County Health Department team would like to welcome Dr. Bredenkamp and looks forward to a new era for the Health Department.

For National Public Health Week, we’re celebrating the incredible contributions of all our divisions, and now we’re highlighting the Pre to 3 Program!

Pre to 3 is a home visitation program that takes referrals on pregnant women or infants under 90 days old and supports families until the child turns 3 years of age. The visits are fun and interactive, supporting parents to build strong bonds with their children while also being their #1 developmental teacher.

Thank you for making a difference in the lives of families by providing valuable support and nurturing early childhood development!

To answer that, we voluntarily pursued national accreditation—inviting outside experts to evaluate whether our infrastructure, programs, and performance truly matched our standards. The result was a resounding yes.

This year, as we prepared for reaccreditation, we once again welcomed independent reviewers to take a close look at our work. Their feedback reaffirmed our strengths and offered thoughtful recommendations to help us grow even stronger. I am proud to share that we have been reaccredited for another five years.

While I will not be serving in this role during the next review cycle, I have complete confidence that this team will continue to rise to every challenge. Their professionalism and dedication consistently set the standard for excellence in public health. If public health accreditation were an Olympic event, this team would be standing on the podium with a gold medal. It has truly been an amazing ride.”
