Sunset Skatepark

Sunset Skatepark Indiana’s largest concrete skatepark is now open!! In Sunset Park West on the Evansville Riverfront. It’s long lasting, attractive, and holds up!

Evansville, Indiana's current skatepark, Lamasco Skate Park is in disrepair and unable to be fixed. Pre-fab parks, like this one, were never meant to last more than a decade. Skateboarders, roller bladers, BMXers and more have been asking for a concrete park in Evansville for 10+ years. After a few years of active advocacy and with the help of Evansville Parks & Recreation, we are now moving forwa

rd! This will be an accessible, ALL-WHEEL park (everything from wheelchairs, skateboards, scooters, bikes, rollerskates, and rollerblades). We want to also emphasize public art throughout the park! Evansville is an amazing place to live and is worthy of a top-of-the-line park for our community and those that visit it! Can you believe it’s almost been 2 years since the park has opened?!

As part of the required maintenance, they are doing a 2 year re-sealing of the concrete at the park this week, Monday, November 3 through Friday, November 7th with hopes for it to be ready to be reopened this Saturday. Please stay off the surface as they power wash and reseal it so it will be good for the next two years!

I don’t login too often anymore but I had to for our ✨one year✨ anniversary of Indiana’s largest concrete skatepark! I’ve loved passing the park everyday seeing it full of people young and old. Girls night, skate jams, cookouts & more: seeing the space utilized and taken care of. Community being built everyday. This has easily become the most used park in the city and I couldn’t be more proud of what we all have created. Continue to grow your community and show everyone why Evansville can truly be the best place on earth. Keep going. ♥️♥️♥️ H

Surprise! We wrote another grant and won $3,000 for more seating at the park! New benches and picnic tables coming your way soon!! So many complements today on the great job Hunger did on our park and how cool it is to see people from all walks of life and ages utilizing it on a daily basis! Can’t wait to see it everyday this summer!

We did it!! We won a Leadership Everyone award!

One of the best projects I’ve ever been apart of was recognized by our community as a whole tonight! Our former Mayor Lloyd Winnecke nominated a project we worked more than 4 years on - and others advocated for nearly 20 years!! Together, with a lot of friends, we created Indiana’s largest skatepark and have changed our community forever.

Thankful that even when people didn’t fully understand our vision and why: they still supported it and are now celebrating it!!! Thank you to everyone who was here before us and to everyone who will be here after us. ♥️♥️♥️
