A building is only as strong as the structure hidden inside it.

This week, Mr. Randy joined our participants in the workshop to teach a skill that many people never see but every safe building depends on: properly tying rebar.

Rebar acts as the skeleton of concrete structures, helping them resist heavy loads, strong winds, and the test of time. A poorly tied reinforcement system can weaken an entire building. A well-tied one can help protect families and communities for generations.

At Lakou, we believe that rebuilding Haiti starts with teaching the right skills, the right way.

🕊️ In Loving Memory of Gerlin Chery

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Gerlin Chery, a dedicated participant in Lakou NFP's second-year program.

Gerlin was a hardworking young man, humble, respectful, and always eager to learn. His determination and positive spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.

Though he is no longer with us, his memory will remain a part of the Lakou family forever.

Rest in peace, Gerlin. You will never be forgotten. 🕊️

From Beginner to Skilled Welder: Danielo Lacrooz's Journey with Lakou NFP

When Danielo Lacrooz first joined the Lakou NFP Construction Training Program, he had no experience in construction.

Throughout the program, Danielo as gained hands-on experience, he developed a strong interest in welding and chose it as his area of specialization. Through consistent effort and practical training, he built valuable technical skills and gained the confidence needed to work in the construction field.

Today, Danielo is a proud graduate of the Lakou NFP program. His journey from having no construction background to becoming a trained welder demonstrates the power of education, opportunity, and perseverance. While he continues to develop his skills and pursue new opportunities, he now has a solid foundation for a successful career.

Danielo's story is one of many examples of how investing in young people can create lasting impact. At Lakou NFP, we are committed to equipping the next generation with the skills needed to help build stronger communities and contribute to Haiti's development.
