This Thursday, The Rotary Club of Evanston will be holding its annual Purple Pinkie Project! Elementary and Middle School students who donate $1 during their lunch hour can have their pinkies painted purple to show their support for ending polio!

Yesterday, Evanston Regional Hospital had the opportunity to speak with the Evanston Rotary Club about some of the challenges facing rural healthcare and, more importantly, the opportunities ahead for our hospital and community.

Rural hospitals across the country continue to face challenges including financial pressures, workforce shortages, aging equipment and the rising cost of providing care. Despite those challenges, our commitment to providing quality healthcare close to home remains stronger than ever.

We shared information about the Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP), a five-year federal initiative designed to strengthen rural healthcare. This funding presents an exciting opportunity for Evanston Regional Hospital to invest in much-needed medical equipment and technology, enhance our services and continue building a stronger future for healthcare in our community.

We also discussed the importance of looking ahead, identifying opportunities for growth, strengthening partnerships and making sure our community continues to have access to the healthcare services it needs.

Thank you to the Evanston Rotary Club for welcoming us and giving us the opportunity to share our vision for the future of healthcare in Evanston.

Our focus remains on moving Evanston Regional Hospital forward, keeping healthcare local and building a stronger, more sustainable healthcare system for the communities we serve!
