We would like to thank all those who participated in our Memorial Day weekend events and ceremonies. The turnout was terrific at the placing of the flags at Memorial Park, The two ceremonies on Monday were both touching and well-attended. Thank you all.

The video gaming machines are now in service. We are currently the ONLY game in town, for now LOL.

Post 42 is the first business to have video gambling machines in Evanston. Being the Guinea pig in this process, keeping our fingers crossed to see that all goes well. We go live Monday morning at 11:30.

Tons of tasty food, plenty to drink, and members and guests all had a great time.

The Post 42 Charitable Foundation donated $7,500 to the Leyden Township Food Pantry. The donation will be spent on helping to offset the purchasing of fresh provisions that are needed to feed the less fortunate. We would like to thank everyone who participated or attended this weekend's Memorial Day activities, from placing flags on Veterans Graves, to attending the ceremony at Memorial Park on May 27, to the ceremony pictured below, at Evanston Fountain Square. The Evanston turnout was well over 200 people. Thank you one and all, especially Mayor Daniel Biss, and the leadership of Evanston Post 42, Evanston Tech Sgt William B. Snell VFW Post 7816, the Post 42 Rifle Team and everyone who was in attendance.

Post 42 is looking for Legion Members, SAL Members, Boosters or nonmembers, who would volunteer for the rifle team for Monday, May 27 at Fountain Square

We are seeking 3 - 7 individuals.

We have the rifles and blank cartridges, and they are ready to go. We need the membership and volunteers, to complete the ceremonial salute.

What: Looking for Volunteers to fire rifle salute on Memorial Day (3 -7 members)

When: Monday May 27, 2024 at Evanston Fountain Square
(with one training event TBD)

What you need:
White collared Shirt, dark slacks and organizational cap (we can supply if you need one)

The full complement could be seven members, but even if we go three team members that would be great. We need to preserve the rifle team participation in these events, and it is an important and poignant symbol of reverences for our fallen comrades.
