Student Holdings NFP (SH), formerly Northwestern Student Holdings (NSH, is a student-run holdings company that funds and manages a portfolio of businesses serving the Northwestern and Evanston communities. SH offers a myriad of services including food delivery, group transportation, advertising and marketing as well as tutoring. Together, SH companies employ more than 50 Northwestern students and

had revenues exceeding $250,000 last year. SH also strives to continually grow its current companies as well as maintain an environment of entrepreneurship and innovation by providing its members and interested Northwestern students a continuous platform to propose and execute new business ideas. Through the challenges and thrills of running a student-run business, SH members have a chance to experience entrepreneurship and business and unparalleled learning opportunities that come to define their college experience at Northwestern.

Some great coverage on Student Holdings and the wonderful work of the organization's new Laundry team - serving Northwestern, on-campus undergraduates through a pickup/delivery laundry service! A great example of taking an idea from concept to market so quickly. Huge thanks to the Northwestern Business Review!

Our Story

Purpose

Student Holdings provides educational, hands-on business experiences to Northwestern University undergraduate students by giving them the opportunity to launch, operate and grow services providing goods and services to the Northwestern University, Evanston and Chicago communities. Student Holdings also provides jobs and work experiences to Northwestern University students.

Our activities

Our primary activities include operating businesses to provide a practical and hands-on business education to our members, providing employment opportunities to Northwestern University students, and supplying goods and services to the aforementioned communities. Through their revenues, these businesses provide funding to sustain their activities, finance other new business ideas to serve the same purpose, and support our educational programming. Student Holdings has three primary businesses that provide experiential learning opportunities to Northwestern students: NU|Tutors, RezEssentials, and Ink Tank.
