Lovers & Madmen whole-heartedly stands with the Black Lives Matter movement and those who are protesting right now. As our season quote by Judith Butler states, “Destruction is thus always restoration,” and we are dedicated to helping in the fight for that restoration. We recognize the white eurocentrism that is often connected with the classical canon, and we are committed to making a continuous effort to uplift Black and other marginalized voices that are present, yet not always represented, in our canon. Starting now, we will be using our social media platforms to share resources from and by other individuals and organizations, both at Northwestern and beyond, who better understand the Black experience. To our Black friends and peers: you have our solidarity, support, and love. Black Lives Matter.
