JR. Wildkit Family,

Day one was a great success. Lots of new faces and we got some good work done.
We have most players with equipment. We will work on getting more done tonight.
If you are out of town we will get you taken care of when you return.

We have been monitoring the heat and we will practice tonight. Practice after warmup will be less intense and more
about basic skills ( Stance, Tackling Positions without contact, throwing, catching, etc).
Please make sure your players are eating during the day and drinking lots of water.
It is not uncommon for players to sweat out a few pounds at each practice. Even more when we put full pads on
in the coming weeks.

Have your players in Shorts or Sweatpants, Cleats or gym shoes and bring a bottle of water with your name on it.
We will not wear helmets until Saturday for those players who have 3 practices.

Tell your friends that it is not to late to register, but we are filling up fast.

SWAY Concussion testing needs to be done ASAP This is a free app that gives a baseline
for all players 9 years old and up. They will need a smartphone ( if you don't have one we can help). We will have help onsite.
This can also be done at home. It is a short series of test that take about 20-30 minutes.

Our Popcorn fundraiser for new equipment and uniforms is going great. Thank you to all who have helped.
We have until tomorrow at 10 AM to sell so if you can think of anyone who might like some popcorn and would like to help
just send them this email. We got 3 of our 5 teams into the playoffs and brought back cheerleading for the first time since before COVID-19.

Jr. Wildkits Nation:

To kick-off the 30th Anniversary season, Jr. Wildkits Football has created a fun and exciting fundraising challenge. The program is seeking $30 donations to commemorate 30 years of youth football and mentorship. The ultimate goal is to raise $30,000 to ensure the program's mission to provide local youth with the opportunity to play competitive football while learning valuable skills and lessons for life, is continued. Proceeds from the challenge support scholarships for program fees, equipment replacement and repair cost, field rentals and other operating costs.

The $30 for 30 Years challenge is simple:

As a not-for-profit, volunteer led organization, Jr. Wildkits Football could not have lasted 30 years without the support of family, friends, parents and community members. The organization cannot make it another 30 years without that continued support, because nothing special happens without teamwork. That's why it's part of the program's motto: Academic Character Teamwork or A-C-T.

So A-C-T Like A Champion, catch the challenge that ensures local youth will continue to experience the positive benefits of youth sports. Then pass it to people you know and challenge them to do the same.

The 30th season of Jr. Wildkits Football starts Tuesday, July 23rd!

In anticipation of the start of training camp on July 23rd, Evanston Jr. Wildkits Football wants to make players and parents aware of several key items and events on the calendar.

Registration - Registration for the 2023 season remains open until August 10, 2024. No new players will be allowed after that time. Payments plans and scholarship assistance is available to those who qualify.

Season Kick-off Day - Concussion testing / Weigh-in / Equipment Check-out

Friday July 19th, Family Focus, 2010 Dewey Ave

3rd-5th graders - 4:00-5:30 PM.
6th-8th graders - 5:30 and 7:00 PM.

Concussion Testing - Program and league safety protocols require all players 9 year and older as of September 1, 2024 to participate in baseline concussion testing prior to beginning contact. This is the most effective tool to compare a person's neurocognitive state before a concussion occurs. In the event of a concussion, doctors use this information to access, treat and return athletes to play. Evanston Jr. Wildkits Football partners with NorthShore University Healthsystem's Sports Medicine and Sway Medical to provide baseline testing.

9-11 year old players will participate in in-person testing during Season Kick-off Day, Friday, July 19th. These athletes will test with the Sway Sports Version. Testing takes approximately 20 minutes and will be performed in small groups. Additional details will follow.
Players 12 years old & up may participate in in-person testing during equipment distribution on Friday, July 19th. These athletes will test with the Sway Sports+ Version. Testing takes approximately 20 minutes and will be performed in small groups. Additional details will follow.

Weigh-In - All players must weigh-in at the start of the season to determine team placement. Placement is based on age and weight according to TCYFL limits.


Equipment fitting and distribution - Only players who are fully registered may be fitted for and receive equipment. Volunteers will be on hand to assist with walk-in registration for those that have not already registered. (Please be aware walk-in registration will require a minimum payment of $60 toward program fees.) If you have payment questions Contact Coach English or Coach Himrod.

Age Verification - All 1st-year players must verify their age by submitting a clear copy/photo of their birth certificate to Evanston Jr. Wildkits Football. We will use the copy/photo to verify the players age at an in-person league meeting then destroy it. New players should submit a copy to [email protected] ASAP or bring a copy to the Season Kick-off Day on Friday July 19th. All new players must provide verification of age by August 9th to maintain eligibility.

Season Calendar - Practices will be Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday evenings from 5:30 - 7:30 PM and Saturdays from 8:00 - 10:00 AM at Channelside Park in Evanston. The first day of practice is Tuesday, July 23rd. We have attached a PDF with the tentative calendar of program activities. A more extensive calendar will be provided in August as we get game dates and times from our league.
