We had the opportunity to celebrate Mrs. Griffin, the Yellow Rose of our senior brother, Brother Marian Griffin. At 90 years young, he continues to model what love, commitment, and devotion truly look like.

Knowing that it’s not always easy for him to get out and spend time with her, we were intentional about creating that space. We hosted a birthday dinner at one of her favorite restaurants so they could simply enjoy each other.

Brotherhood shows up in how we care for one another and extend that care to our families.

Brotherhood in action.

Last night’s April fellowship created space for meaningful dialogue, shared perspective, and intentional growth. In true Alpha fashion, we remain committed to stimulating the ambition of our members and equipping one another to lead with purpose, both within the Fraternity and in the communities we serve.

Iron sharpens iron. And when brothers come together with intention, growth is inevitable.

Yesterday, our Chapter President, Brother Dr. Johnson, and Treasurer, Brother Miller, proudly represented the Tau Epsilon Lambda Chapter at the Georgia Spring Leadership Retreat in Macon, Georgia.

Hosted by our District Director, Brother James Ford II, and the Georgia District team, this gathering brought together brothers from across the state for a day centered on leadership development, alignment, and forward thinking as we continue advancing the mission of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Brother Ford and his team, along with Executive Director Brother Pitts, for their leadership, vision, and ongoing commitment to developing leaders and strengthening our brotherhood across the district.

Experiences like this ensure that we remain equipped, connected, and prepared to lead with purpose in the communities we serve.

The Tau Epsilon Lambda Chapter was represented on April 14 at the dedication of two Black history markers on Laney Walker Boulevard in Augusta, hosted by the Augusta African American Historical Society.

Bro. Carpenter and Rev. Bro. Dr. Searcy were in attendance to honor the legacy of Reverend N.T. Young and William Wilborn, whose leadership and advocacy helped shape Augusta’s Black community and the city at large.

William Wilborn was a pioneering leader in Augusta, a former NAACP president, and a tireless advocate for equity in employment, education, and voting rights. Reverend N.T. Young, longtime pastor of Thankful Baptist Church and member of the Richmond County Board of Education, was instrumental in advancing opportunities for Black educators and students.

We are proud to stand in recognition of those whose impact continues to guide and inspire our work.

For more on the April 14 dedication, see the article from Augusta Good News:

On April 14, members of the Augusta African American Historical Society unveiled its 28th marker which was placed in honor of William Wilborn (1877-1966) and rededicated one for the Rev. N.T. Young (1910-2001), which had been damaged in an accident
