Companions for Courage was invited by our local Port Orange South Daytona Chamber of Commerce to participate in their non-profit expo for the Youth Civic Leadership Experience (YCLE) this year. The YCLE provides multiple opportunities for the students to learn about local non-profit organizations and gain a better understanding of the power of these organizations in our communities.

Companion Piper with Linda Brendlinger and Companion Levi with Vickie Schroeder manned the Companions for Courage table and met many wonderful students from our area while supporting our local Chamber of Commerce.

Susan Graves and Companion Sidney are some of our newest members. Sidney is a 5-year-old tri-colored rough Collie. She is a bronze level grand champion with the AKC, and enjoys conformation shows, visiting patients at the hospital, frisbee competitions, and Fast Cat (Coursing Ability Test) – a timed 100-yard dash where dogs run one at a time, chasing a lure.

Companions for Courage was honored to be on hand in Sanford today to receive a donation in memory of Judge Alan Dickey. Judge Dickey retired as the longest serving judge in the history of Florida’s 18th Judicial Circuit. We are grateful to the Rotary Club of Sanford for their generous donation on behalf of Judge Dickey who passed away last year.
