Momma G Farms has a Guinea Fowl Whisperer on staff. Guinea are known for being wild and skiddish. Levi has officially become their friend. He has gotten the closet to our Guinea than anyone ever has. Of course, he did have a bag of "Coohgrubs" soldier flies and meal worms, which Coohgrubs graciously donated to our not for profit educational farm.

Our Guinea are in mating season and will need the extra protein when they start laying eggs. Our chickens love them too. A big thank you to Coohgrubs!!! Find them at www.coohgrubs.com and on Amazon. They have quality products all of our birds love.

Mullein. We have almost planted all of our extra mullein plants. I will have one tray available at the Cassia Farmers Market on Saturday, May 23rd, from 8am to 1pm. Check out the comments for more information on the Market. To purchase plants at our farm text me at 407-591-0406.

The benefits of Mullein are awesome!

Respiratory support and cough relief: Mullein acts as an expectorant (helps loosen and expel mucus) and demulcent (soothes irritated mucous membranes). It's traditionally used for coughs, colds, bronchitis, asthma, hoarseness, and congestion. It may relax airway muscles and make coughs more productive.

Anti-inflammatory effects: Compounds in mullein (like flavonoids) may help reduce inflammation in the respiratory tract and elsewhere, potentially easing symptoms of conditions involving swelling or irritation.

Antimicrobial properties: Test-tube and lab studies suggest mullein has antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal activity (e.g., against certain strains of influenza, herpes, and bacteria). Human evidence is limited but promising for fighting respiratory infections.

Other potential benefits: It may support mild digestive relief, joint/muscle comfort (via anti-inflammatory action), and general antioxidant effects. Some use it for sore throats or allergies.

Last Call......These medicinal and edible plants will be moving from 4" pots to the 6" pots soon. Which will increase their price. We use high-quality soil and containers. ( Fox Farm Ocean Forest potting soil)

The Mullein will be going into the food forest and will no longer be available for purchase after Saturday. The leaves on mullein plants are highly sought after for their medicinal uses. They will die soon if I do not plant them in the ground or a very large pot. Saturday will be the last day for mullein purchases. Text to set an appointment to come by and visit the Farm Store and purchase plants. 407-591-0406 We take appointments Monday thru Saturday.

"Watermelon drama" The first picture is my idea of what growing watermelon is like. We have grown some really great watermelons in the past. This year, I started my seeds in little pots and moved them out about 4 weeks ago into very large pots. One pot looks great, normal, and I have high hopes for those plants. The other pot...hope is not the word I would use. They look sick, and I looked under a few leaves, and there are the dreaded bugs who make gardening difficult at times. But! There, among the evil bugs, are a few very special visitors eating dinner. Ladybug Nymphs. They are the bigger prehistoric looking ones with orange stripe bugs in the photos. The Nymph, during its 2 to 3 week stage of development, can consume around 400 aphids or other soft-bodied pests like mites, scale insects, or thrips. So there is still hope for these watermelon plants and for organic gardening!
