Play Street is excited to announce that we are the recipients of a community grant from

This generous amount of $1700 will go towards purchasing a special platform installed 60" tall color-changing bubble tube that will be both vibroacoustic and switch operated! We are thrilled to be able to offer this type of participant-led, interactive, multi-sensory experience to our community. We could not do this without the generosity and thoughtfulness of our partners like the Rotary Club of Eureka.

We are so thankful to this wonderful volunteer-run, organization that puts so much effort and love back into our community.

We are kicking off our fundraising campaign so our community can choose to make one-time or regular donations towards our cause of making an inclusive space for all families in Humboldt County.

At Play Street we recognize the universal calling of all parents to continue to show up for their children each and every day. We know it is hard, even if your children are typically developing and do not struggle with medical complexities or physical and/or mental limitations. And this is why we are building something that will be the first of its kind, a multi-sensory environment (MSE) space for all families to come and enjoy and not feel judged or excluded. We feel that by addressing and removing some of the barriers of entry towards inclusive play and socialization, we are opening the door for more social inclusion and engagement for all families and children in Humboldt County.

Inclusive spaces do not have to always equal ADA. There are many simple and easy ways to make a space more welcoming and inclusive to families and children with disabilities. Some examples include:

- covering bright overhead lights
- placing pictures and objects at lower heights
- offering visual supports
- making sure there is a calm and quiet area to decompress
- implementing a consistent cleaning routine
- limiting the number of participants or attendees at any one time

With your help and input, our Multi-Sensory Play and Education Center will become a model for inclusive play and other types of spaces for Humboldt County and beyond.

Cick here to help us make a difference:
