The California Cancer Crusher would like to thank everyone that showed up yesterday for our 2nd annual Crushing Cancer One Step At a Time 5k. It was a beautiful sunny morning and just a bit windy toward the end. Thank you to all the participants who showed in their PINK and our wonderful volunteers! And especially our board member Colleen Rasmussen who chaired the event. Can’t wait until next year!

TODAY IS THE DAY!!! Get your sneakers on, wear ALL the pink and help us turn the Humboldt Bay Trail PINK! Remember if you are coming from Arcata the slough bridge is closed today, you will need to use the Samoa bridge detour. See everyone for a 1030 start time!!!

START WILL BE AT THE BRIDGE DIRECTLY BEHIND TARGET

You can still register the day of the event, but a T-shirt is not guaranteed.

🅿️ Parking & Arrival Tips
• Southbound U.S. 101 at the Eureka Slough Bridge will be fully closed for construction, Sunday, Oct. 11, from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.
• Please plan ahead and take an alternate southbound route. The available state-highway detour for these closures is Route 255. Southbound 101 travelers will still be able to utilize the intersections at Indianola Cutoff and Jacobs Avenue/Airport Road. Northbound 101 at the Eureka Slough Bridge will remain open.
• Street parking on 2nd street and surrounding area — please arrive early!
• If you choose to park in the Target parking lot, please use the 2 rows closest to Hwy 101 and not directly in front of store. You can then walk around by the old garden center to access race start line.
Arrive 45 minutes before your start time to park, check gear, and enjoy the pre-race fun! 🎀
• Bling your race Bib.
• Buy a ribbon for the Bridge of Hope.
• Buy some swag.
• See You at the Start Line!

Yesterday the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors proclaimed October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Humboldt County. The California Cancer Crusher was able to share information about our Pink Can campaign and our Crushing Cancer One Step at a Time 5k coming up on Sunday, October 11.
Rose Gale-Zoellick from the Breast and GYN Health ProjectBreast GYN accepted the proclamation and Sheriff Honsal shared information about the Sheriff’s pink patch campaign.

It's October and Breast Cancer Awareness Month!! 🩷🎗️ Fortuna PD is selling pink patches for $10 cash donations! All donations go to California Cancer Crusher at the end of the month! don't need a new patch, we have a donation box, too! 🩷
