On Memorial Day, the American Legion Walker-Wilson Post No. 9 of Eureka Springs held a solemn and patriotic observance to honor the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

The Celebration Choir's Star-Spangled Ensemble performed a moving and powerful tribute to the fallen heroes. The ensemble, consisting of 14 singers under the director of Sharon Keck Parker and accompanied by Marsha Havens, performed a repertoire of patriotic melodies, including "The Star-Spangled Banner", "In Remembrance of a Veteran", "A Tribute to the Armed Services" and "Sleep, Comrade, Sleep!". The musical tribute was made all the more poignant by the Director's notes, which provided the audience with insights into the stories and meanings behind each piece.

The choir's rendition of the Memorial Day Hymn "Sleep, Comrade, Sleep!" was especially moving, with its close harmony and acappella close leaving the audience in reverent silence. Overall, it was a truly memorable Memorial Day event that brought our community together to honor and remember those who have sacrificed their lives for our freedom.

We have to brag on one of our student musicians from “Singing In Glad Celebration” concert this past Sunday!

DTSOI Senior, Brett Graham, is a phenomenal vocalist and instrumentalist. Brett recently volunteered to not only sing with us as a bass, but also went the extra mile in learning the instrumental parts for two of our pieces!

If you missed our live performance last Sunday, be sure to check out our livestream video to hear this young man perform with us!

We’re excited to see what he brings into the world as he continues his passion in college as a Music Major!
