Facebook Terms of Use/Community Guidelines

Volunteers of America Texas encourages all of our online friends to comment and "post" on our page. We strive to manage a positive online space where our constituents can feel free to express themselves. We understand that some conversations around articles, blog posts, events, videos, organizational initiatives and other content on this page o

r linked to this page can create strong opinions which can lead to debates and passionate responses. For that reason, when comments or posts descend into derogatory remarks, personal attacks, inappropriate content or confusing streams of irrelevant content, we reserve the right to remove comments on our pages and potentially move the conversations offline (either onto email or discussions via phone). We want to see your comments and posts that:

• Are "on topic" and that respond to the content in our posts
• Are responses to comments left by other readers
• Are reasonably brief and to the point
• Have a positive/constructive tone
• Are open to being contradicted by other readers
• Might disagree with the content in the article or post, but never insult the writer of the article or blog post, or other commenters; we’re all “friends,” after all

We would rather not see comments and posts that:

• Are not "on topic" or are not responding to other comments or the content in the article or blog post
• Are excessively longwinded or negative
• Are insulting to the writer, the organization or previous commenters

We will immediately delete, without notice, comments and posts, that:

• Are unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, hateful, or contain racially, ethnically or similarly objectionable content
• Are personal attacks, including name-calling or celebrations of another person's misfortune
• Are injurious to the reputations or privacy of Volunteers of America staff, volunteers and clients
• Are false statements or unrelated to Volunteers of America programs and ministry
• Contain advertising or spam
• Are incomprehensible or do not contribute to reasonable dialogue
• Are disruptive, including personal conversations better suited for private messaging
• Violate any of Facebook's Terms of Use and Code of Conduct

Constant or extreme violations of Volunteers of America Texas’ Facebook community rules will cause a commenter to be "defriended," blocking them from making future posts or comments on the page. In cases of extreme abuse, Volunteers of America Texas will report violations to Facebook and permanently ban offenders from the page. We are looking forward to your thoughtful, respectful and constructive dialogue on our page.

May is both Affordable Housing Month and Older Americans Month, and at VOA Texas, we are proud to support older adults through safe, stable, and affordable housing.

Stories like Alecia’s remind us why this work matters. After living in unsafe housing conditions, Alecia found a new home at The Oaks, a VOA Texas-managed senior living community designed to provide comfort, dignity, and community for older adults.

Affordable housing can change lives, and we are committed to creating more opportunities for seniors across Texas to thrive.

It’s our final MINT Mom Monday and we want to celebrate the impact that the Mothers and Infants Nurturing Together (MINT) program has on the lives of mothers and babies.

VOA Texas believes that providing incarcerated mothers with a safe and calm environment to birth and bond with their newborns leads to better outcomes for both mom and baby. We are proud to offer them that opportunity.

On May 19, VOA National partnered with Humana, CenterWell, USAA, and the VFW for a National Day of Service supporting homelessness veterans.

Across multiple states, 125+ volunteers assembled 4,000+ care packets, with approximately 50 volunteers in San Antonio packing 1,000 kits for local distribution through Huebner Creek Villas Senior Housing Community.

A strong example of collaboration can have a meaningful impact on those who have served our nation.

We’re so grateful for the opportunity to support mothers through our MINT (Mothers and Infants Nurturing Together) program. 🌷

VOA Texas provides a safe space for incarcerated pregnant women to give birth and bond with their babies during those first important weeks together.

We are honored to walk alongside moms during such a meaningful and life-changing moment.

This MINT Mom Monday, we’re highlighting Macy, a participant in VOA Texas’ Mothers and Infants Together (MINT) program.

The MINT program gives incarcerated mothers the opportunity to bond with their babies before and after birth while building community with other mothers navigating similar journeys.

Hear Macy share about her experience in the program, the support she’s found, and the lessons she’s learned alongside the other women in MINT as she prepares to welcome her baby.
