Measure 20-373 Forum

Today we are having a special forum on Ballot Measure 20-373: Lane County Watershed Bill of Rights, a Lane County proposal that would establish legal rights for watersheds and expand the ability for residents to bring legal action related to environmental concerns. Should this measure pass in this May's Election. the measure will become a Lane County Ordinance or 'local law'.

Michelle Holman, a Chief petitioner for the Measure, and Ron Dickenson, a community advocate for protections from hazardous industrial activities, will speak in favor. Betsy Schultz of PNW Strategies and Tiffany Edwards of the Eugene Chamber of Commerce will speak in opposition to the Measure.

Both parties will have 20 minutes to present their position. There will be time for questions after their presentations.

This Week At Rotary:

This week we will hear an update on the activities of the Eugene Parks Foundation with executive director Ariel Lissman. The Eugene Parks Foundation is committed to creating exceptional parks, open spaces, and trails for the Eugene community and visitors. Public funding often falls short of meeting the high standards necessary for exceptional parks that stimulate growth and transformation. This is where EPF steps in by adopting a visionary approach and forging strategic partnerships between the public and private sectors.
