In 1995, Dolly Parton started mailing books to children in her home county to inspire children to love reading in honor of her dad, who couldn’t read or write.

In 2007 the Imagination Library had grown and made it's way to Oregon.

Almost 20 years later, the program has blossomed reaching every corner of our state as well as 5 countries worldwide.

Today, 48 Local Program Partners are stewarding Dolly's dream and bringing the Imagination Library to families in every one of Oregon's 36 counties along with the support of the State of Oregon. All because Dolly had a dream of getting books into the hands of children and filling as many homes with books and stories.

Over 77,000 children in Oregon are currently enrolled to receive a book from the Imagination Library, over 4 million books have been mailed directly to Oregon families.

31 years ago, Dolly started with a dream. With the delivery of an Imagination Library book, we honor that dream.

💛📚 13 years of bringing the magic of books to Yamhill County! 📚💛

Today, we’re celebrating an incredible milestone: Yamhill Enrichment Society - YES 13th year as a Local Program Partner with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Oregon! 🎉

For more than a decade, YES has been helping bring the gift of a new book each month to children and families across Yamhill County—building home libraries, encouraging a love of reading, and making early literacy a community priority.

But a partnership like this doesn’t happen without people who care deeply and show up year after year. 💛

🌟 A special shoutout to Alyssa Johnson and Sarah Lessen, whose dedication and passion have helped keep the Imagination Library growing and thriving in Yamhill County. Thank you for all the ways you show up for children, families, and your community!

13 years. Countless books. So many little readers. One incredible community.

Hilly has spent years showing up for her community and lending her time, energy, and passion to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Through her work as a volunteer and champion, she has helped connect children and families with the joy of books and helped make early literacy a community priority. 📚✨

Carrying the Story Forward

Behind every book is someone who believed it could change a child's future.

For so many families across Oregon and Idaho, that person was Kelly Poe.

Through Four Rivers Healthy Community, Kelly helped bring Dolly Parton's Imagination Library to 3,474 children and deliver 142,086 books to families—creating opportunities for connection, imagination, and a lifelong love of reading.

While we grieve this loss, we also celebrate a life devoted to opening doors for children and families. Kelly's kindness, dedication, and belief in the power of books will continue to inspire this work.

We extend our deepest sympathy to Kelly's family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside her. She will be greatly missed.

Every book that arrives in a child's mailbox is part of the legacy Kelly leaves behind. 💙📚
