USAID cuts are dramatically driving up the price of simple medications in Uganda. Last year, the board approved to establish a pharmacy at our outreach clinic in Namutamba, where resources are significantly limited. Funds are currently going to get this space up to code. Ongoing funds are needed to staff and stock the pharmacy.
Currently we host monthly medical camps here and bring medications from our clinic in Gayaza, but we see the need for something established and consistent. Patients have been relieved by having appointments here, at times walking miles to get to our clinic. For many, it is still the closest care they have. Our goal is that patients have access to medications regularly at any time.
