Our Story
Our mission
To rescue unwanted animals and give them a safe place on their journey to their forever homes and to educate pet owners on pet over population/care.
How we got started
The founder of Penelope’s Place started taking in unwanted animal from a young age. She noticed that many small animals are bought on a whim and treated as disposable due to a lack of proper education and research. Back in 2018 she became more heavily involved in rescue, one of the animals that inspired this page to be created was Penelope. Penelope was being given away for free after a week due to her former owner not researching how complex rabbits are as pets. She even threatened to dump Penelope in the woods if a rescue did not come get her immediately. Even though Penelope was hours away, volunteers helped Penelope reach a safe place and she lives at the rescue today.
