History was made today!! PacificSource sent out its very FIRST reimbursement check to a doula for doula care! Hoops upon hoops were jumped, walls were scaled or torn down, but I can now say THE SYSTEM WORKS! Please note, a provider contract is NOT required for doula reimbursement. (But there are some benefits to contracting.) As long as you are an OHA approved Traditional Health Worker, have a DMAP and NPI number, and get credentialed with PacificSource, you can submit a claim! Feel free to email me for more info: [email protected]
(Photo of the first mother and baby I served as a doula in 1997 that inspired my life long commitment to this work.)

Now that the CDC is recommending folks wear masks when out and about, I'm seeing some posts and requests floating around regarding masks for infants and young children. Masks are NOT recommended for those under two years of age. It is dangerous as babies cannot yet maintain saturation. They breathe in the CO2 that accumulates behind the mask and are unable to alert you of their suffocation or remove the mask themselves. I know we all want to keep our babies safe, but covering their mouth and nose is not the way to do it. Keep your young ones home and wash hands well and often.
