In this beginner-friendly creative writing workshop, led by author Haley Bossé, we’ll make space to witness and express ourselves in all of our many facets. Each of us contains multitudes—of gender, life experience, dreams—but sometimes we have to simplify ourselves to be more easily understood by others. I invite you to bring your whole, expansive self as we read poems by a few brilliant trans poets and spend some time writing ourselves. This workshop will be focused on creating alongside one another and building a more resilient community. No prior creative writing experience is required!

Join us for Our Stories, Our Way: Celebrating Trans Lives - a Trans Day of Visibility event hosted by Transponder, Creative Q***r Collective & Pride in Numbers. There will be creative workshops, author talks, art projects, an ice cream social, reading retreat and more!

The event is on Sunday, March 29th from 1 to 5 PM at Maxwell Community Hub (440 Maxwell Rd, Eugene, OR 97404). It’s free and for all ages! Please RSVP on Transponder’s website at https://www.transponderoregon.org/tdov2026.

Curious about how short stories work? In this workshop, author A. B. Daniels-Annachi will guide participants through the basics of writing a compelling short story, and teach you how these skills translate to novel writing. Together we’ll explore key elements like character, conflict, and structure, and talk about how writers turn simple ideas into engaging narratives. Participants will also receive prompts and practical tips they can use to start their own stories during or after the workshop. This session is welcoming to writers of all experience levels and focuses on making storytelling approachable and fun!
