Parenting Now

Parenting Now Serving children and families through parenting education programs since 1978.

Parenting Now is a nonprofit organization that provides parenting education and support to families with young children. We bring parents of young children together to:

• share parenting experiences
• increase their knowledge of early childhood development
• learn about community resources
• create support networks among themselves

Our vision is that all children are raised by nurturing, skilled

parents. Our mission is to provide the local and global community of parents and educators the tools and resources to create and sustain healthy, safe environments for children. We believe that:
• Parenting is the most important and challenging job there is.
• Parents are their children's first and most important teachers.
• All families should have access to parenting education and support services. Our values:
• We treat each individual with respect and dignity.
• We have the knowledge, expertise, and skills to achieve excellence in our work.
• We demonstrate honesty and integrity in everything we do.
• We achieve success through effective communication and clearly understood goals and expectations.
• Our work is grounded in our commitment to our direct work with families.

Stress shows up in so many ways, a tough day at work, worries that won’t quiet down, or even the thoughts we have about everyday situations. What feels overwhelming for one person might feel manageable for someone else, and that’s completely normal.

Understanding what triggers our stress is the first step toward managing it. When we know our stressors, we can respond instead of react.

Parenting brings incredible joy, but it can also bring real stress. If you’re looking for tools, support, and a community that gets it, consider joining a parenting group. Learn strategies to manage stress and make more room for the moments you love most.

Nurturing Your Baby’s Growth, One Moment at a Time

Did you know your baby’s brain is forming over a million neural connections every second in their first year?
Every smile, sound, and snuggle is helping build the foundation for their learning, movement, and emotional bonds.

The best part? You don’t need anything fancy to support your baby’s development, just everyday moments:

Talk, sing, and narrate your day
Follow your baby’s lead, curiosity is learning!
Keep play simple and engaging
Spend time exploring the world together
Create loving, responsive connections

From tummy time and peek-a-boo to first steps and pretend play, each stage brings new opportunities to connect and grow.

Every baby develops at their own pace; what matters most is showing up with love, attention, and care.

Understanding Misbehavior Through a New Lens
Every culture has rules. Drive on the right, not the left; say “please” and “thank you”; take turns.
Families have rules too, and children spend years sorting them out.

When kids “misbehave,” it’s often because they’re still learning:

What’s expected

What’s allowed

What’s different in this situation

What the adults around them value

Most of the time, their behavior comes from curiosity, not defiance.

When we guide instead of punish, we help them understand both the big world and our family world.
