Our Children’s Trust’s Climate Rights Corps volunteers and interns joined youth amici, Alina Miranda and Maddison Schink, who informed offices of U.S. Senators and House of Representatives that they had signed an amicus brief in Suncor v. Boulder County.

Alina’s family lost everything, her home, and pets in the Marshall Fire, the most destructive fire in Colorado history. Maddison, who now lives near the Suncor refinery, notices black smoke from the facility along with a decline in her health.

The youth also urged legislators to protect children’s health, safety, and rights.

Should fossil fuel companies be held accountable for deceiving the public about climate change? ⚖️ That's the question at the heart of Suncor Energy v. Boulder County, now before the U.S. Supreme Court.

A ruling in the case could affect dozens of similar lawsuits nationwide in which states, counties, and cities are seeking to hold fossil fuel companies accountable for climate damages. A decision is expected next year.

From one youth climate plaintiff to another 🌊🍁

Charlotte Madin was 12 when she joined Navahine v. Hawaiʻi DOT. She'd spent years watching warming water, flood runoff and coral bleaching change the ocean her community depends on In 2024, she and 12 other youth plaintiffs reached a first-of-its-kind settlement that's moving Hawaiʻi toward zero-emissions transportation.

Now 17, she wrote an open letter to the youth of La Rose v. His Majesty the King as they head to trial in Canada.

Charlotte's message to La Rose: “Your voice is what got you here, and it is what will continue to aid you in changemaking, regardless of the outcome of your case.”

Ten Utah youth are asking the Utah Supreme Court to keep their constitutional climate case with its originally assigned judge ⚖️🌎

The Court heard oral arguments yesterday, and a decision is expected in the coming months. Until then, proceedings in Roberts v. Board of Oil, Gas, and Mining remain paused.
