Whether that change strengthens our communities and our diversity, or works to destroy it, is ultimately up to us. It is the goal of the White Rose Society of Eugene, Oregon to aid in facilitating the community action and education that will be so deeply important in the upcoming, and uncertain, social and political era. We do not espouse or practice a hierarchical system of leadership. We join together. We are united based on a single principal and an ethic of justice – freedom for all to do as they please as long as no others are harmed in the process. In simpler terms, your rights end where another’s rights begin. We believe in non-violent action and education. However, while we do not pick fights, we also do not allow violence to be perpetrated against the innocent. If inaction allows a status quo of violence to continue, then that action is no longer non-violent, but is instead an act of complicity and tacit acceptance of violence. We will not be complicit. We ask that discourse on this forum be kept respectful. Hate speech will not be tolerated in any form. It is inevitable that uncomfortable subjects will be broached and discussed. However, moving forward we must learn from each other, teach each other, and inspire each other to positive action, not tear each other down with insults, hateful rhetoric, and disrespect.
