Joseph Lewis shares with the club a certificate of appreciation from his friends at Kampala Metropolitan Rotary. Two Lewis kids, Elizabeth and Joseph (shown at left in second photo), did their dad proud by organizing a benefit concert to raise money for improvements to the Butooro Health Centre in Mpigi District of Uganda. The Lewises raised nearly $12,000 for the clinic to buy a neonatal resuscitation unit and to make critical improvements to the clinic building, for example by installing running water. Since the improvements were made, the clinic hasn’t experienced a single newborn death. Four other Rotary clubs helped, but the effort was 90% Deltarian, thanks to our many members who bought tickets to attend the benefit concert.
