Muxeres is a Student organization at the University of Oregon focused on women empowerment, diversity

This year our internal director would like to focus on community building, diversity and cultural inclusion, as well as recruitment and retention. Mujeres is an organization whose main objective is to create a safe space for women, specifically women who identify as diverse or bicultural. It is time for a change, for women to be recognized for the powerful, intelligent beings that we are. We will

stand and advocate for underrepresented groups and we aim to raise awareness about social issues that exist in today's society.

🎓SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: CASSANDRA MARTINEZ🎓

Majored in B.S. in Business administration with concentration in marketing and Minor in Latinx studies & B.A. in Spanish

Piece of advice: GET INVOLVED!!! Please make sure you get involved and expand your network! You never know what will come from going to that one event or joining that one club. Connect with Alumni and people from the community because these are the people that could help you get jobs after college. It can be scary to put yourself out there but it’s scarier going into the world blind to this so do it while you’re in college!!!

Favorite college memory: I loved being apart of so many clubs and going to all the major events like Noche de Excelencia. These events really helped me see how strong our community is and how we all can come together to support one another.

Majoring in Educational Foundations, Minors in spanish and latinx studies.

Piece of advice: always remember to give yourself grace. You aren’t always going to know what to do right away, and that’s perfectly okay. You made it to university! You have so much to be proud of and so much more to look forward to.

Favorite college memory: driving to Seattle to see Omar Apollo on the second day of junior year and driving back the same night with Mayra, Sulema, and Angie.

Majoring in Psychology

Piece of advice: college is too short to spectate. Join the club, attend the meeting, and show up even if you go alone. Everyone is looking for their community.

Favorite college memory: are the spontaneous, unplanned moments, whether it was a late-night dutch run with close friends or striking up a conversation with someone new on campus. It’s these unexpected, everyday experiences that truly define my time here, and I know they are memories that will stay with me for a lifetime.🫶🏽
