Inspired by the need for a community gathering space, the Whiteaker Community Market will act as an adhesive force which will bring together the diverse talents of our neighborhood. In an effort to support the Whiteaker Community Council to purchase the lot for future community space, it only makes sense to utilize the skills of the Whiteaker's very own small-scale entrepreneurs. We believe that a

market founded by artists and local, organic food systems will create a sense of place and allow the spirit of the Whiteaker to thrive! Kinda chic yall! What is Produce Pals you ask??

It’s a program for youth up to 16 years old to receive $5 per market to spend on fresh produce like fruits and veggies! This program was formerly called Little lettuce and essentially the same, except the age range reaches more youth! So stop by the Info Booth so your kids can get a Produce Pals token and buy their own produce or edible plant starts to grow their own! 🌿🍓

HOW IT WORKS:

🥬 Produce Pals Kids Market - $5 tokens for children 16 years old & younger to buy fresh fruit, veggies, edible plant starts, mushrooms, and legumes from farmers at the Whiteaker Community Sunday Market.

ℹ️ No income requirement. One token per child. Tokens must be used the same day.

➡️ Check-in at the Info Booth at the Market on Sundays to get Produce Pals tokens for your kiddos!

It’s that time of year again to get ready for the changing season. I know it happens quick, and it kinda feels like summer finally arrived with the heat lately! However, we are beyond excited for this event, it’s fun and silly and creative and, you get to wear a costume!

The Whiteaker Community Market is collaborating with Eugene Cultural Services on their Downtown Halloween event this year and we couldn’t be more excited about it! We have participated in this event as an invitee for 5 years now and are really excited to work with our friends at Cultural Services throw a fun Halloween bash! Even in the scariest weather we have ever experienced in the last 11 years that Cultural Services has been throwing this event, we still entertained 10,000 costumed friends enjoying the spooky scenery.

The best Halloween Downtown poster to date is coming to life soon and communications are being shared far and wide, we are sure to break our numbers this year! This art by Bonnie Bozell Rzeteljski is from last year, but it’s still amazing!

Stop by the market this weekend to see all our peeps! Even though this Sunday falls on the 9th and farmers week is *technically* over, we’re still highlighting and celebrating!

Announcing that we have made the decision to cancel tomorrows event. The smoke is too much and AQI too high for a successful event and we decided to make the safe decision and cancel our Golden Hour event.

We will reschedule is event for a later date this year, be on the lookout for those details!

If you’re a vendor scheduled at this event, you should be receiving an email with the next step details, feel free to email us with any questions!

Thanks to the City Of Eugene Government Eugene Cultural Services staff for being on top of things and supporting our decision to postpone. Stay safe and healthy during this smoky season friends!

Next we have Julio Wray ! He’s a prompt kinda guy usually the first to arrive on market day, which we love! He specializes in growing tomatoes, although you can find a variety of produce at his stall. He’s got a beautiful variety of flower bouquets as well that are hard to pass up.

Julio’s Market Garden is a local urban micro farm that grows vegetables and flowers as well as plant starts using organic , regenerative practices as well as utilizing closed loop techniques and hyper local markets. Worms and hard work are the backbone of this farm. All products are produced by someone who cares for people who care and are inspired by a connection to nature.

Today is the day we celebrate our Farmers!

Stop by the market today and shop from our dedicated and delightful farmer crew! There’s lots to choose from and some fun activities today!

🥕All kids 16 years and under receive a $5 Produce Pals token to use on fresh produce, and today we’re giving an EXTRA $5 in produce pals! That’s $10 to use on some delish berries, or carrots, whatever you want!

🍆 We’re also doing our annual Zucchini Races today! We’ll have 3 winners with prizes! Come join the fun and paint a silly veggie and see who can win the race!

We’ve also got a star line up of our usuals in arts, crafts, and baked goods, don’t miss out on treating yourself!

This week we’ll be highlighting our lovely farmers that make our market complete with their bounty! We appreciate all their hard and honest work that goes into every step of their practices.

First up is Olive Creek Farm! They are such a sweet family and we just love having them with us! Don’t miss their baked goods, they sell out every week!

Olive creek is also our only egg vendor this year, they go very fast so you gotta get there early to grab some!

We love the variety they offer and you can find them every Sunday at the market!
