UO SAIL UO SAIL programs inspire Oregon high school students to pursue and succeed in higher education!

The University of Oregon’s Student Academy to Inspire Learning (SAIL) pre-college program mission is to inspire middle and high school students from low socioeconomic, first-generation and underrepresented backgrounds from across the state of Oregon to pursue, enroll and succeed in higher education by providing first hand experiences with faculty, volunteers, college student mentors and university campus resources.

Our Story

The Summer Academy to Inspire Learning (SAIL) was founded by two University of Oregon Economics professors. These professors wanted to determine of by removing barriers for underrepresented students, would this increase their likelihood of going onto college. SAIL has been incredibly successful. Student participation and faculty volunteers has increased annually boasting over 350 faculty who have volunteered their time over the years and serving over 300 participants during the summer programs.
