Big step forward for affordable homeownership in Eugene. ๐Ÿก

Weโ€™re excited to see our partners at Dev Northwest move ahead with the purchase of land for Floral Hill CLT, a future neighborhood that will bring 40 permanently affordable homes to south Eugene through the Community Land Trust model.

Projects like this show how thoughtful planning and strong partnerships can create lasting homeownership opportunities for local families โ€” not just today, but for generations to come.

Progress like this shows whatโ€™s possible when leaders stay focused on practical solutions to increase housing supply and improve affordability across Oregon.

Over the past few years, Oregon has made significant investments to address housing and homelessness. Thereโ€™s more work ahead to tackle our housing supply and affordability challenges, but these results show whatโ€™s possible when we stay focused on solutions.

Understanding the building permit process shouldnโ€™t feel like a mystery. ๐Ÿ—๏ธ

The City of Eugeneโ€™s Permit & Information Center is launching a new workshop series designed to help community members, builders, and property owners better navigate the permitting process. These sessions aim to make the process more transparent, highlight common pitfalls, and provide tools to help streamline submissions and reduce review timelines.

The first workshop, Permitting 101: Navigating the Building Permit Process, will be held Wednesday, March 18 at 12:00 PM. Participants will learn the steps required to obtain a building permit, whatโ€™s needed for application acceptance, and what to expect during plan review.

If youโ€™re planning a project or simply want to better understand how the process works, this is a great place to start.

A positive step forward for housing in Eugene!

Collaboration makes progress possible. Thanks to the partnership between the Eugene Area Chamber, Representative Lisa Fragala, and many community partners, this legislation helps remove a key barrier by allowing voluntary annexation of non-contiguous parcels within Eugeneโ€™s Urban Growth Boundary.

Policy changes like this may sound technical, but they matter. By making it easier for land to come into the city, we can unlock new opportunities to build the housing our community needs.

Weโ€™re proud to be part of the collaboration working toward practical solutions that help create more housing options in Eugene.

A win for housing in Eugene.

Thanks to collaboration between the Eugene Area Chamber, Better Housing Together, and Representative Lisa Fragala, new legislation will allow voluntary annexation of non-contiguous parcels within Eugeneโ€™s Urban Growth Boundary.

This commonsense change removes barriers and opens the door for new housing opportunities in our community.

More housing opportunity could soon be unlocked in Eugene. ๐Ÿ˜๏ธ

A bill currently moving through the Oregon Legislature would allow certain properties within Eugeneโ€™s Urban Growth Boundary to annex into the city more easily when property owners request it. If passed, the change could help unlock housing capacity in areas like River Road and Santa Claraโ€”where many parcels already have access to infrastructure but remain outside city limits.

This type of policy shift may seem small, but it can help remove barriers to building the homes our community needs.

Better Housing Together worked alongside local partners to help develop this proposal as part of a broader effort to expand housing options across Lane County.

Annexation could happen without public meetings if the owners request and certain criteria are met.

This week in Salem, Tiffany Edwards testified in support of HB 4108, bipartisan legislation developed with local partners to address real barriers to building housing in Eugene.

Representing both Better Housing Together and the Eugene Area Chamber of Commerce, Tiffany explains why the bill matters and how it could help unlock more housing opportunities for our region.

Removing unnecessary barriers to housing helps businesses grow, strengthens our workforce, and supports a healthier, more resilient community.

Big news for Eugene.

Everyone Village is stepping up in a big way โ€” with plans to build 100 tiny homes to create safe, stable housing for low-income residents.

This is the kind of solution-focused action our community needs: practical, compassionate, and built around dignity. Thoughtfully designed small-footprint housing can make a meaningful difference for people who need stability now โ€” while strengthening the broader housing ecosystem.

Weโ€™ll be watching this closely and cheering on efforts that expand real housing options across our region.

This week, BHT was at the Capitol to testify in support of HB 4108โ€”a bill that would help unlock housing potential by allowing certain noncontiguous land to be annexed into cities when key conditions are met.

This is a practical tool that can help communities build more housing near existing infrastructureโ€”without unnecessary delay.

Weโ€™re grateful for the opportunity to lift up solutions that move us toward greater housing affordability, diversity, and supply across Oregon.

Opportunity to help shape real housing solutions in Lane County!

Lane County is forming a 7-member task force to help design a new housing land banking programโ€”a big step toward increasing affordable housing production by reducing delays and unlocking buildable land.

This is a great chance to be part of creating a more efficient, community-centered approach to getting housing built!

The task force will develop the programโ€™s goals, priorities, measures of success, and reporting standards. Once adopted by the Board of County Commissioners, the program will identify buildable land, move it through the land-use process, and make shovel-ready properties available to affordable housing developers. Offering ready-to-build properties that have cleared the land use process reduces the risk of delays for affordable housing developers โ€“ making building more attractive โ€“ and allows for a more efficient construction timeline. The program is funded with $2 million in Oregon Video Lottery funds.
