North Eugene Disaster Relief in Japan The Red Cross was founded in 1881 by Clara Barton to help victims of war. It was founded on May 21st, 1881, inspired by the Red Cross in Switzerland.

Clara was the leader of the American Red Cross for 23 years. She led the some of the first overseas relief efforts. They have continued her quest up to this day, but now include other programs that reach far beyond helping injured soldiers. They are enormous, they span in every state, and have branches in many other countries as well. They help people around the globe because of the immense distan

ces they have reached. The American Red Cross is based in Washington DC, but they have smaller offices in basically every substantial city in the US. You will find a Red Cross in any state you visit as well as many other countries. The main goal of the Reds Cross it to end the suffering of people stuck by unfortunate circumstances or events that have happened in their life. These can include natural disasters, war victims, poverty struck areas and many other places. Over the years they have saved thousands of people, they are very well know for this as well as their blood donation capacity.
