Or haGan

Or haGan We strive to davven and learn together from ancient and modern sources with an emphasis on the mystical and sacred.

Or haGan is a progressive, diverse, egalitarian Jewish community committed to joyful, deep worship, a rootedness in Jewish texts, meaningful practices and ritual, "green" living, lifelong learning, and social action. We support the State of Israel and all nations and peoples committed to and striving for peace. Or haGan’s decision to remain unaffiliated gives us a full spectrum to serve the plural

ism of Eugene’s Jewish community. While there needs to be more than one choice, the community is not yet large enough for each sector to stand alone. We challenge you to be part of building and renewing this vital part of your Jewish community. Or haGan is registered as a non-profit organization, under statute 501 (C)(3). Our Board of Directors has three members plus Rabbi Jonathan Seidel.

Today is the 47th day of the Omer. Day 5 of Week w/Rabbi Jonathan Seidel
Hod she BeMalkhut... ..A time of the integration of the Glory of the Divine and every moment of Wonder in every microsecond in conjunction with Sovereignty. Both hearken back and forward to the Glory of Shekhinah, who NOW is presently manifest in Malkhut....

Yes, the continuing living, sentient Presence that takes on the life we give it in this Glorious Cosmos. And there are those who sought "Glory" in battle ....and died. Is Malkhut present in the glory of war...it would seem that there is really no glory in War.......Today am remembering and counting those who have fallen defending our country, on this Memorial Day as well as all our veterans who have moved to the Next World.

This is the week where we follow Parshat BaMidbar where the Census is taken and the Wilderness Journey continues. I am taking account and telling the story of those that have been taken from us in the time of the Virus, taking "account' of the souls, the lives, not just the statistics...these are Neshamot. the Souls that we must stand up and Count as fractals of the Divine Image. ..and I am remembering to Count the Sefirot -- those Ciphers of the Tree of Life, reminding myself of the confluence of Divine Energy that is at work at every moment if I would only "take account" of it, not merely working numerically towards Shavuot and 50 but along the way paying attention to qualities that I would like to cultivate within myself that are more compassionate, more considerate, more patient, more Divine.

This is the week of Malkhut, Sovereignty and Kingship of the Divine in the World. May the memory of the deceased on this "Yom Hazikaron" be for the good and building God's Presence, Kavod on Earth in the consciousness of Shekhinah which "descended" upon Sinai so long ago and at this very moment.

As we move towards Shavuot (Feast of Weeks) may we continue to draw down the Shefa, the energy into our bodies, our movement and action in the world, May the Nazeret Virus, the Crown Virus teach us about how we might embody Divine Sovereignty in everything, especially in these challenging times. May we count on each other to exercise wise judgement about safety and current science ...while trusting in HaShem. Ken Yehi Ratzon -- May it be so.
