The Goddess Pilgrimage to Crete is on its feet again, after four journeys with wonderfully diverse groups. It is an honor and a pleasure to follow in Carol's footsteps to the sacred sites and radiant landscapes of Crete.

Zoom gathering in honour of
'Carol Christ and the Pilgrimage to the Goddess'

On December 20, Carol’s birthday, friends of Carol as well as past and potential future Goddess Pilgrims are warmly invited to an online Zoom Gathering and ritual in Carol’s honour.

Carol P. Christ (1945-2021) was a pioneering feminist theologian, Goddess scholar, prolific author, co-founder of the women's spirituality movement, and beloved friend.

We gather to celebrate her life and legacy, with a focus on the Goddess Pilgrimage on Crete which she initiated in the 1990s and which now continues in her footsteps. Past Pilgrims will share photos and stories, friends of Carol are invited to reminisce, and anyone interested in joining a future Pilgrimage to the Goddess is welcome to ask questions. We will also offer a short meditation to attune with the Cretan Goddess, pour libations to honour the Winter Solstice, and set seeds of intention for the coming year.

Time: 10 am-12 noon PST, 1-3 pm EST, 6-8 pm UK, 7-9 pm Central European Time, 8-10 pm Greece.

Great news! Max Dashu is offering a webcast on Ancient Crete, with two showings of the same talk Sat 23 Dec, 11am (Pacific); and again on Mon 25 Dec 4pm (Pacific).

Max is another Foremother of Goddess spirituality movement, and for 50 years has been a pioneer of research into precious visual and linguistic evidence for women's empowerment and Goddess culture in antiquity. Her webcasts are packed with jaw-dropping images and information and will certainly expand our awareness and understanding of the Goddess in Ancient Crete.

Carol P. Christ and the Pilgrimage to the Goddess: Online Memorial Gathering, December 20, 2023

On December 20, Carol’s birthday, Goddess Pilgrims and friends of Carol are warmly invited to an online Zoom Gathering and ritual in Carol’s honour, with a focus on the Goddess Pilgrimage to Crete.

I will show some photographs from Carol's personal archive, followed by exciting presentations from Cristina Nevans, long-time co-leader of the Pilgrimage; Trista Hendren, 2018 Goddess Pilgrim; Joan Cichon, long-ago and recent co-leader, speaking from her recent book, Matriarchy in Bronze Age Crete; Stephanie Rose, 2022 Pilgrim and future co-leader, speaking on 'The Epiphany of the Goddess at Mochlos'; Paula Mariedaughter, 2017 and 2022 Pilgrim, speaking on 'Carol Christ, Both an Activist and a Philosopher'; Jeanne Neath, 2022 Pilgrim, speaking on the Mountain Mother; Terry Folks, 2023 Pilgrim, who recently posted on FAR about her Goddess Pilgrimage experience; photos of Crete by 2023 Pilgrim Jane Vincent; and 2022 Pilgrim Diane Schreiner sharing inspired and inspiring glimpses from her Cretan Goddess sketchbook. Our special guests will be ritual artist Eirini Delaki with exquisite drumming and singing to accompany a ritual of remembrance, and filmmaker Laura Hirch, who will share a bit about her fabulous new film project, docuseries 'From the Goddess'. Laura will show a short clip from Episode 3, 'The Foremothers - starting the Goddess Movement', which features Carol along with many of her contemporaries and friends. Unfortunately, both Monica R. and Angelique V. have had to withdraw from the roster of presenters due to family obligations; we wish them both luck and hope they will be able to present another time.

All friends of Carol are welcome to join us to reminisce, and anyone interested in joining a future Goddess Pilgrimage is welcome to come and ask questions. This gathering is free of charge, but you must register in advance with your name and email address.
