It's swarm time and the calls are starting to come in! If you haven't checked your hives recently, your bees have been making plans behind your back! With 70 degree days coming up, this weekend they'll be on the move.

Give them some space, consider making a split, whatever option you like to use to keep those bees in their box, especially if you live in town.

We'll also be taking nuc orders during the meeting.

Spring is in the air and it's a great time to hang with fellow beekeepers and get excited about this bee season!

Please join us next Tuesday on St. Patrick’s Day for our next monthly meeting. We will feature Molly Quade, a grad student at , will give a class on her research that looks at the ways in which fungi can be used as a means to control varroa mites. We will also host local beekeeper Tom Klinnert of who will discuss various ways in which double screen boards can be used to make splits and mitigate swarm behavior. Doors open at 6:15 and classes start at 6:30 at the Irvine Grange. Free and open to the public. Please bring your own Guinness!!! As a reminder, we still have seats open for our bee school this Saturday March 14 and nucs for sale and available in April. Let’s go!!!!
