Get into GOLF FORE GOOD! ⛳💝

A call to all golfers and golf clubs, teams and associations: Help a kid in need learn golf and grow in physical health, mental discipline, and life skills.

Our Partner Victory Africa Ministries Inc. (VAM) in Uganda has almost completed their first year of its golf training program for students in the town of Kabale.

Lekishon Outreach helped fund the initiative through sponsorships and VAM partnered with Kabale Golf Club to provide equipment and training space.

October will mark one year since the program started, and it's gaining interest among other students and community members.

There are 30 students from ages seven to 20-years-old enrolled, with all seeing improvement in their focus and confidence at school and at home.

VAM is planning to expand the golf training, so our partners need all the help they can get to keep growing and improving the program!

Playing golf is improving the lives of underserved students in Uganda. ⛳🏌🏾‍♀️🇺🇬

Lekishon Outreach's partner, Victory Africa Ministries Inc. started a golf training program in October 2025 with help from grants and individual sponsors.

VAM is based in Kabale, Uganda where kids lack access to extracurricular actives and organized sports.

In the town, most people in the community saw golf as a sport for the rich and were skeptical about the program at first. Despite those cultural barriers, 30 students enrolled.

The Victory Child Sponsorship Program and Akanyijuka Primary School partnered with Kabale Golf Club to provide equipment, training space, instructors and transportation to and from classes.

In a six month review of golf program, VAM says more than 70% of parents and teachers reported improved discipline, focus, and responsibility in their kids.

Students demonstrated better physical health, mental discipline, and life skills. Coaches have also identified talented students with potential for competitive golf.

Now, the training classes have increased the desire of other children to participate, so VAM is expanding the program to more schools and communities!

Kabale Golf Club

The Women’s Empowerment Centre is a technical training school Pakishu Women Organization built for women, by women.

This video highlights how it will help young Maasai women like Mercy, who couldn’t afford to go to school and now has a second chance to succeed with the skills she will learn at the first women’s technical training center in Kenya’s Maasai Lands.

The training center will offer skills in trades such as carpentry, plumbing, woodworking, tailoring, welding beadwork and more.

It is set to officially open in Enoosaen, Kenya in 2027, but we still need to meet our fundraising goal! Pakishu still needs funding for supplies, equipment, and instructors.

This is the story about how Maasai bracelets inspired acts of kindness in Oregon and created an international movement that is helping women and girls in Kenya.

It all started in 2016. Lekishon Outreach Vice President Andrea Bennett Rosenzweig friends made a trip to Kenya to visit Pakishu Women Organization founder Renoi Ronkei and her husband Ole Ronkei in the Maasai village of Enoosaen. The group visited local schools, met girls and women returning to school under Renoi's mentorship and admired the beautiful beadwork Maasai women are known for worldwide.

When she returned to Bend, Oregon, that transformative experience was the inspiration for “The Power of Connection Project,” an initiative partnering with Pakishu to sell Maasai beaded bracelets and donate the proceeds to sponsor the education of girls in Enoosaen, Kenya.

Another manifestation of the project is the annual 24-day challenge in December where Andrea hands out bracelets daily to strangers in her community to spark compassion and generosity while raising awareness about the cause.

In 2025, Andrea published a book on “The Power of Connection Project” to highlight its success building meaningful bridges between people across cultures while addressing barriers to opportunity, especially for young women. Her work ties Kenya to a broader mission of global connection, ethical sourcing, and grassroots philanthropy, especially centered on girls’ education.

Lekishon Outreach is currently helping to realize the dream of Pakishu Women Organization’s founder Josephine Renoi Ronkei: To build a technical training center in her Maasai village for girls and women, failed by Kenya’s formal educational system, to learn valuable trades and skills that lead to financial independence.

Pakishu Women Organization broke ground on the first technical training center for women in Maasai lands in September 2025. Phase two of the construction is currently underway, and the center is set to officially open in 2027.

Multimedia Journalist Jamil Andrea attended the groundbreaking and spent three months documenting the project, its progress and how it’s shaping the future of female empowerment in Maasai culture. This video is from that trip.

Lekishon Outreach is new to social media and our small team is excited to introduce the digital world to our community-driven nonprofit based out of Eugene, OR serving marginalized people in Kenya and Uganda.

Here’s the story of how a couple of Oregonians and a few Kenyans and Ugandans met, became friends, and started a global movement to change the world.

Lekishon Outreach’s partner in Uganda is Victory Africa Ministries Inc. - an NGO Pastor Edward Kanyesigye and his wife Peace Komugisha founded.

Edward and Peace have devoted their lives to helping disenfranchised children get an education with sponsorships for tuition, housing, school counseling and social services for families, playing a transformative role in these students’ lives by personally ensuring their success.

This is the story about one of those sponsored students Daphne Ahabwomugish and her journey from a child left in the care of her struggling grandmother to a woman poised to become a change-maker for her country.

At the core of Lekishon Outreach's partnership with Pakishu Women Organization in Maasai Lands, Kenya is helping underprivileged girls and women return to school and receive job training through educational sponsorship programs, and this is the impetus for establishing Lekishon Outreach in the first place!

Before Pakishu Women Organization and Lekishon Outreach even existed and initiated their official partnership, the three women who created and now run these nonprofits, were just friends recruiting their friends to help young Maasai women and girls in Kenya pay for school fees and receive an education.

Renoi Ronkei was a government leader addressing rampant school dropouts among teenage girls in Enoosaen, Kenya, a primarily Maasai village. Her friends Therese Picado in Eugene, Oregon and Andrea Rosenzweig in Bend, Oregon wanted to get involved.

This global partnership has now sponsored hundreds of students’ education and only continues to expand its reach and contributions to Maasai women’s education and training.

Meet our partners:

VICTORY AFRICA MINISTRIES (VAM)
Through homes for needy children and the nursery and primary school, as well as educational sponsorships through secondary school and post graduate courses of study, VAM provides education, room and board, and comprehensive social services to marginalized children and families. VAM also provides agri-business start-up funds and training for women heads of household, empowering them with the means to provide sustainable income for their families. In fall 2025, VAM launched a new golf program for 30 students that includes regular golf instruction, practice at a local golf club, and the opportunity to field a golf team and compete in local/regional competitions.

PAKISHU WOMEN ORGANIZATION (PWO)
Pakishu Women Organization (PWO) provides educational opportunities to Maasai girls who have dropped out of school due to pregnancy and/or early marriages while supporting the mothers of these teen girls as they care for their grandchildren through micro-enterprise such as Maasai beadwork.

PWO is also constructing the first technical training center for girls and women in Maasai lands. The center will provide alternative, non-traditional life-skills to engender self-reliance. Technical skills training includes welding, carpentry, plumbing, sewing, and more.

THE MAA TRUST
Like PWO, the Kenya-based nonprofit The Maa Trust (TMT) is also doing seminal work with primarily marginalized youth and women in Maasai Mara. Currently, Lekishon Outreach is funding TMT to provide safety, career guidance, sexual and reproductive education to youth in 10 schools, as well as, Street Business School micro-enterprise education to hundreds of women.
