When Paul McCartney was a young boy, he auditioned for the Liverpool Cathedral Boys' Choir - and didn't get in. It was fitting then many years later that his Liverpool Oratorio premiered in the Liverpool Cathedral. Paul's Oratorio draws on the events of his early life, including the text of his school's motto - Non nobis solum sed toti mundo nati - Not for ourselves alone but for the whole world were we born. We are thrilled that the All-American Boys Chorus of Santa Ana, California will be joining us for this special performance highlighting such an important message. In the Oratorio, the Boys Chorus is playing the role of the schoolboys at the Liverpool Institute where Paul went to school.
The All-American Boys Chorus, directed by Wesley Martin, is an internationally touring, non-denominational group that fosters the creative and leadership development of over one hundred boys annually. Enrollment in the Chorus is open to boys of all cultural, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds. They accept boys with no prior musical knowledge required, and provide a highly-praised program of vocal and performance training supported by an acclaimed music literacy and ear training curriculum.
