National Advocacy Days 2025
On March 3-5, -USA's Government Relations team hosted our annual YMCA National Advocacy Days. Oregon Alliance Executive Marisa Fink and Oregon's Youth Governor Lily Yao joined over 400 Y leaders, volunteers, and youth advocates who came to Washington, D.C., to collectively advance our legislative priorities. Advocates met with over 300 elected officials on Capitol Hill, sharing local updates and urging them to support four key policy priorities: childcare funding, chronic disease and drowning-prevention funding, tax policies that benefit Ys, and the Building Civic Bridges Act.
Y-USA President and CEO Suzanne McCormick joined the Hill Day, meeting with senators and representatives who chair important funding and tax committees that could impact the Y.
Additionally, hundreds of individuals across the country joined National Advocacy Days virtually by sending an action alert to Congress elevating the Y's message.
Advocacy is a year-round activity, but this event marks an energetic kick-off to the year ahead. This year more than ever, our voices are critical to sustaining funding, avoiding cuts, and ensuring the government continues to help us advance the critical work Ys do every day in their neighborhoods.
