Had a great week with my son who was able to take leave from being an Air Force pilot to come elk hunting with me. Didn't get an elk, but helped out the fawns and calves.

Looking for a FREE event this weekend for youth? Oregon Hunters Association - Emerald Valley Chapter will be collaborating with ODFW for the 2026 Fern Ridge Wildlife Area Youth Free Pheasant Hunt.

Where: Fern Ridge Wildlife Area (FRWA)
Dates: September 12-13
Bag Limit: Hunters may harvest rooster pheasants up to TWO (2) roosters per day.
Eligibility: Hunters age 17 and younger, holding a Hunter Ed. Safety Education Certificate (card signed by a HE instructor).

In this hunt an adult 21 years or older, who may not hunt, must accompany one youth hunter. All participants must attend a safety briefing.

Requirements:
- Each youth hunter must have in their possession a Hunter Safety Education Certificate (or a Department issued document (i.e., Hunting license, which includes their Hunter Safety Education Certificate Number).

- Hunters 12 years or older must have a valid hunting license with an upland game bird validation.

- Hunters 11 years and younger, with a Hunting Safety Education Certification in their name, are not required to hold a hunting license or upland tag.

- Blaze orange hat, shooting glasses (eye protection) and blaze orange vest must be worn by all participants, including adults.

No permit for the FRWA is required. Just report to FRWA starting at 7:00 AM at the checking station located in the Nielson Road parking lot. Hunting hours are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Only federally approved non-toxic shot may be used.

Brian Halley, owner of NW Camo has 4 AKC female black lab puppies for sale. Sire is Lean On Me Mac Master Hunter. Dam is Hathaway's Duck Filled Marsh Master Hunter. She has a long list of Master Hunt passes. The pups come a long line if hunting labs. They are ready to go to their new hunting home with 3 of their shots completed.
