Larry and Anita, our previous directors, were in their late 30’s when Larry began working with Waffle House . They loved and saw it as their Marketplace ministry.
18 years later, God began to speak to them about ministering to the Church. His sheep. Particularly servant leaders. "But God, Christians already have Jesus, they don't need us to minister to them, the lost need Jesus!" was Anita's response. So, after a time of struggle, one day while Anita was wrestling with this invitation, God spoke to her, "Anita, you can continue to win them one at a time, or you can have nations for your inheritance." That was the revelation she needed. Anita caught the vision of touching a leader's life, who can then in turn, touch the life of a family...a community...a nation. Touching Lives, Impacting Nations. One day, the question was asked, "God, could you define for us a little of what it is you want us to do?" He gave them a vision of a key ring with a little box hanging from it. God then said clearly, "There are millions of Christians in boxes just like that and I want you to let them out." Thus began the days of listening to how He wanted them to do that and ultimately, it became clear that ServantCARE was the way.
In 2000, they ended the Waffle House ministry and joined the recently launched ministry of ServantCARE along with the founder, Michael Parham. As they spent time with missionaries, many needs became abundantly clear to them, like stateside housing, personal heart ministry, and additional prayer coverage, among other things. Thus began the days of taking long road trips, building a network of biblical counselors and recruiting others into this ministry of CARE.
In May of 2024, Miss Anita passed from this world into eternity to be with the Lord. We are so grateful for the legacy of Mrs. Anita & Mr. Larry, setting a strong foundation of genuine love and CARE for people, one at a time. We are honored to carry this heart into the next season. Today, Larry serves on the board of ServantCARE, helping to guide the ministry into the next chapter of Kingdom work as we continue to CARE for those who serve. To God be the Glory!
