We recently received the following story from one of the gospel-centered ministries we follow. They are engaged in “digital engagement,” sharing the story of Jesus and salvation through media. We found it deeply encouraging.

Sarah had a dream about Jesus. She said that He told her His name was Jesus and to “follow me.” Then she woke up.
Later that day, Sarah saw one of the Ramadan ads we ran through social media during the month-long fast for Muslims around the world.
The ad said:
What if the mercy you’re longing for — and the righteousness you’re striving for — have already been offered?
There’s a story about Jesus that many have never heard.
Message us to learn more.
And so she did. Sarah sent a message that said, “I am a Muslim and I want to know more about Jesus, but I am scared of my family.” One of our Arabic-speaking Christian partners began conversation with her.
After weeks of conversations, Sarah knew she wanted to follow Jesus and our responder was able to pray with her and connect her to a church near her city.
We get 1000s of messages from people who want to argue that Jesus can’t be God or that following Jesus is laughable. We spend a lot of time “moving rocks,” as we like to say. We don’t often get to intersect stories like Sarah’s, or share the gospel when someone is ready to respond - but we know God sees all these stories fully and we celebrate the reminder that He is always working. Sarah’s story encouraged us all in what a good and gracious gift we have in Jesus.
Pray for Sarah, pray for her to be safely connected to a church in her area and pray for her heart to be fully transformed into all He has made her to be.

We love how Jesus speaks personally, drawing us to salvation. Then He sends someone with a message—at just the right time and in just the right format—to speak the words of the gospel so we can understand.
Did you catch what our friend said? “We spend a lot of time ‘moving rocks.’” The idea of moving rocks comes from the parable Jesus told in Mark 4:1-9.
“He began to teach again by the sea. And such a very large crowd gathered to Him that He got into a boat in the sea and sat down; and the whole crowd was by the sea on the land. And He was teaching them many things in parables, and was saying to them in His teaching, “Listen to this! Behold, the sower went out to sow; as he was sowing, some seed fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate it up. Other seed fell on the rocky ground where it did not have much soil; and immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of soil. And after the sun had risen, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away. Other seed fell among the thorns, and the thorns came up and choked it, and it yielded no crop. Other seeds fell into the good soil, and as they grew up and increased, they yielded a crop and produced thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold.” And He was saying, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
Jesus goes on to explain that the seed is the Word of God—the gospel. His disciples are the sowers, and the soil is the state of men’s hearts. People’s hearts are rocky. Their circumstances are thorny. Sometimes our mission is to first address the rocks so the seed can take root, just as a gardener prepares the soil for planting.
Don’t get discouraged if the person you’re sharing with doesn’t respond as you’d hoped. Be faithful and diligent in praying for God to speak. Ask Him to reveal any “rocks” in the way and to give you wisdom as you till the soil by caring for them, answering questions, and speaking truth in love. Pray that they hear Jesus calling, “Follow Me!” and that the Word takes root, leading to salvation.
