Emmet County Museum The Emmet County Museum Complex is open seven days a week, June through August from 1 to 4 PM! Albee Memorial Museum, and Farm Heritage Building.

In 1964 a group of interested citizens met to incorporate as a non-profit organization. They were interested in preserving Emmet County Heritage and historical artifacts for future generations. We invite you to visit our Museum Complex by touring the Bolstad School, former Palestine Lutheran Church building, Rural Farm Windmill Site, H.G. By helping to preserve the past, your interest and help is improtant for the future. We invite you to join The Emmet County Historical Society (Preserving Emmet County Heritage since 1964). Membership Dues:

Estherville Hope Haven was out for a visit today. Mike, Ron, and I, were on duty. What a fun bunch to horse around with. No lunch today, but they are coming back out next Monday and we are having a pizza party in our new Woody's storefront with, get this, real Woodys Pizza.

Spoke with Woodys Pizza owner Andrew Ward, ĥe offered to fix us up with a couple of pizzas, at no charge, Sunday evening that we can finish cooking up the next day.

Through a generous grant from the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa, we’ve been able to put plans into place for our exterior lighting project. Our main building, which has existed in its current location since 1977, has never once had any exterior lighting. Earlier this spring we were able to test out a single light on the facility. Tonight we were able to utilize two test lights, and what a difference it makes!

The plan is to have a total of four lights, one facing the shorter eastern wall, two facing south towards the main facade of the building, and a fourth positioned so that the church and the school house are both illuminated.

If you drove by tonight and wondered why a bunch of us were weaving in and out of the shadows, shuffling massive strobe lights up and down the yard while the rest booked it one way or another down the sidewalk and in and out of traffic trying to get a glimpse of the potential finished project, now you know!

Rex and Clarice Inman-the couple who donated a very large sum to the ELC School District and then the district gave $1 million for construction of the Regional Wellness Center. Rex and Clarice Inman lived and farmed a mile south east of the Estherville Airport. The district received around $1 million from 10 years of the estate proceeds. The assets of the estate then passed on to Shriner’s Hospital and Burn Centers. The Shriners still have close to 450 acres of Emmet County farmland.

Our crew is always up for a visit from Hope Haven.

Monday was the Emmetsburg groups turn.They are a joy to be with, so happy and polite. My wife Rose set up a light lunch for them, chips, pop, turkey, ham, cheese and buns.

As always our Jeanne supplied the cookies.
