Tech Tea – Tuesday June 11- 3PM – 5:30PM – Hosted by Vicki Dyas
Hi Ladies,
First let me say how excited I am to be a part of the Estes Park Women’s Club. As soon as I heard about the small get togethers I knew I wanted to hostess this technology tea.
Largely this will be a mutual sharing of tips and fun apps on your phones. I encourage everyone to bring their phones and maybe 1 tip or app. We can talk about different providers and coverage as well. Both iphones and Androids are welcome. I am going to try to have a Tech person from the Longmont Senior Tech Center come and talk to us and I will have a few things to share as well.
Depending on time, we may also share tips on other tech types like streaming tips, online security tips, and maybe even some movie and book recommendations. Focus is on sharing.
I will provide light snacks, tea and lemonade and attendees should feel free to bring wine if they choose.
Good Samaritan – Estes Park Village is located at 1901 Ptarmigan Trail. Park in front of the main building and go into the lobby. On the left behind the stairs is an elevator, take it to the lower floor we will be just around the corner from the elevator.
Really looking forward to meeting more of you… Please RSVP to Ingrid at [email protected] or call me at 847-337-7126. Final count needed by Friday, June 7th.
Thank you!

Good evening! Hope all you moms out there had a good day with your children and grandchildren and if not possible in person, that you at least had phone conversations.

It was so very nice to see so many of you at Taharaa last Wednesday! The new officers are now installed and ready to start getting plans for next year underway. If you have any topics you would like to learn about, please let one of the second vice presidents know or reply to this email and I'll relay the message. The second VPs are Ruth Goetzel, Cindy Kirtland, Sarah Walch.

Our newest member, Vicki Dyas, was initiated on Wednesday and has hit the ground running with the offer of a new small group event for you to consider! I've attached the information for it and also for Marlene Borneman and Janet Taylor's Continental Breakfast and wild-flower walk, on May 21st. I'd love to do both, but have a conflict both days. What about you?!?

Thank you to all of you who adopted ducks for the duck race! We made $1518.

Kathy

Good morning! (well it was when I started!)
I will send a News You Can Use after our board meeting on the 30th, but I would like to offer you the opportunity to sign up to participate on committees and projects for the club. If you can't sign up on the attached sheets, just reply to this email with your choices, and I'll sign you up. I have a belief that if you get to choose where you will spend your time and energy you will be more committed to that endeavor than if I call and try to twist your arm. This is a great opportunity for new members to get involved in the workings of the organization and none of the positions are very time-consuming. If positions are not filled, I will begin calling members.
If people have already volunteered for a position I have noted that. Pattie Klein will no longer do the reservations, so that is definitely a position that needs to be filled and we are desperately in need of someone to take on keeping the website and page updated.
Please remember to respond to Pattie's email regarding reservations for our May meeting at Twin Owls/Taharaa. If you didn't receive the email, check your spam file first and then call Pattie Klein.

Quack!

The Estes Park Duck Race is Saturday, May 4. As your Duck Race representative, I am available to answer any questions you may have regarding duck adoptions, prizes, race day schedule, volunteering, etc.

The duck adoption process is all online. Adoptions can be made by anyone with access to the internet. Visit www.epduckrace.org/estes-park-womans-club to adopt your ducks or send that link to your friends and family.

You are welcome to forward this email to supporters of the Estes Park Woman’s Club.

As stated in the March meeting, for the Woman’s Club to be considered a participating organization for the 2025 duck race, at least $625 in adoptions must be made to Estes Park Woman’s Club for this year’s race. That means at least 25 duck adoptions must be made at $25 each.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Each Participating Organization is required to provide at least one volunteer to assist with the Duck Race, either on race day, with setup the day prior, or other volunteer duties as needed. Please contact [email protected] to volunteer. Organizations that do not provide a volunteer may not be allowed to participate in next year’s race.

Thank you for your support. Last year’s race brought in over $1100 to this organization. Let’s beat that amount in 2024! The grand prizes are cash: $10,000, $6,000, and $4,000!

Greetings!
Can't believe that it's March already, but the calendar says it's so.

Those of you who were not able to join us for our general meeting in February missed a good presentation by Barbara Jo Limmiatis on programs offered by the Estes Valley Library and a good lunch. We initiated Linda Swoboda and I hope everyone will make a point of greeting Linda and getting to know her and the other women we have recently welcomed to membership.

We received a thank you note from the kindergarten teaching team apprising us of the purchases they made with money we donated for early literacy. Kindergarten Round Up Bags given to incoming kindergarten students will include books in both English and Spanish: Ten Wriggly, Wiggly Caterpillars, Dr. Seuss, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish , Kindergarten Here I Come, I Need a Hug, and magnetic letters.

The membership voted to proceed with the pilot project providing copies of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Caring For Your Baby and Young Child - Birth to 5 in both Spanish and English. We are continuing to negotiate with the publisher to see if we can get the books directly from them at a discount, but members who would like to contribute either money for the purchase of books, or books are welcome and encouraged to do so. There will be small bags on tables on Wednesday if you would like to contribute toward the purchase of books or you can purchase the books directly from Amazon and contribute them. If you do the latter, please make sure that the English version is 7th Edition, and the Spanish edition, El Cuidado De Su Hijo Pequeno: Desde el nacimiento hasta los cinco anos (Spanish Edition) November 29, 2016.

Thank you to those of you who contributed baked goods for the baking bonanza. We made $127 for your efforts. We may try to do this again next year, but there just isn't another meeting where it will work to do it again this year....we only have two more meetings after next Wednesday!

I will send the list of small group opportunities one more time. Please think about inviting non-members to join us. It's a great opportunity for someone who may be interested in joining us to meet members in a relaxed, small group. I didn't include Marlene's wild flower event because the date may have to change.

Last but not least, the elementary school is in need of gold fish or pretzels for snacks for students who don't bring their own. If you are able, your contribution is greatly appreciated. Large bags/boxes are fine. Don't have to be individual servings.

Hope to see you next Wednesday at the Landings. There are only 33 parking spaces so carpooling is recommended. Thank you for all that you do.

Happy Halloween!
There are several things on the horizon that I want to share with you, but three in particular are of immediate interest.

1. It's time for Bright Christmas again and families will start signing up this week at Crossroads. Woman's Club has taken two families for several years and we would like to continue to do so this year. Marlene Borneman, chair of the Bright Christmas committee, will have jars on each of the tables on Wednesday for donations supporting this effort. If you are not able to attend the meeting but would like to contribute, you may send your donation directly to treasurer, Patti Erbe, 1001 Black Canyon Dr. The committee will have to do their shopping just after Thanksgiving. so please have your contributions in Patti's hands by Nov. 22.

2. Since we're talking about Christmas, former member, Joyce Paxton, donated Christmas decorations to Woman's Club for our use or to sell for a fundraiser. Ingrid Drouin, who loves Christmas decorations, has gone through the items and sends the following message about the sale at the meeting on Nov. 8.

Hi all and Happy Fall!
The holidays are upon us, and we are looking forward to breaking bread and enjoying your company at our Thanksgiving luncheon next Wednesday, November 8th at the American Legion. We are very excited about hosting an additional event during our luncheon next week. We will be having a Christmas bazaar where you can purchase beautiful ornaments, wreaths, ceramic holiday items etc. These are great to keep for yourself or use as Christmas presents, housewarming gifts during holidays etc. Many of the items look brand new.
Our special featured item is a gorgeous Thomas Kincaid lite decorated ceramic Christmas tree on a beautiful wooden base with his logo embellished on a gold placket. This item sells online for over $150! We will be featuring it for $100. Unfortunately, there is only one of these but lots of other Christmas treasures for you to purchase.
Please bring your checkbooks or cash and have fun as we get ready to embrace the Christmas holidays.
See you all next week
Kathy and Ingrid

3. The third is the ongoing fundraising idea explained in the previous email and is of immediate interest only because the kickoff event if we decide to pursue this was set to be a Christmas event but wouldn't have to be. In addition to the email suggesting and explaining the "soup luncheon type events" was a google form to allow people to indicate interest in this type fundraiser. Several people have indicated that they were unable to effectively access the form so I'll have paper copies on the tables at the meeting next Wednesday. Hope you'll consider joining us.

4. Did you know that Woman's Club has a website? I'm guessing that many of us didn't and have not accessed it, but for people looking for women's organizations in the area a google search might be utilized and sure enough the Estes Park Woman’s Club is there! We are in need of a webmaster! The website is hosted by Wordpress, so someone familiar with that platform would be great, but could also be someone willing to learn. If interested, please contact me or Kathy Bryson, [email protected]. The website is definitely in need of updating, but check it out. estesparkwomansclub.org.

5. If you are not receiving the lunch reservation emails from Pattie Klein, please contact Pattie, [email protected]. She is happy to work with you to solve problems.

6. PLEASE check your information in the yearbook and make sure that the email address and phone numbers are correct. If you haven’t picked up your yearbook, and are not going to be able to do so by the December meeting, please let me know so we can work out a way to get it to you.

7. Out attendance at meetings has been less than we would have expected. If you are not attending, I’d be interested in knowing why. Not trying to guilt anyone, just want the organization to continue being a robust organization so I think the question needs to be asked. Just reply to me. I won’t use names but would organize the responses to share with the board.
Hope to see you on Nov. 8 at the Legion!
Kathy

Please make sure that you bring a comfortable chair to sit in while you are selling your treasures if you desire.

PLEASE sign up to participate (contact Ingrid Drouin – info below) - we are hoping to have at least 30 car trunks full of “treasures” for our sale

Each participant will be responsible for:

pricing their Items and providing a table to display the items by their trunk.
In combination with the Trunk Treasures; we will be hosting a bake sale and craft sale – get out those old family recipes and let’s make some yummy desserts😊

I would appreciate anyone that can help with the Trunk Treasures sale in general and the Bake Sale to reach out to me immediately.

(Ingrid Drouin at 847-337-7126 or email me at [email protected])

I will have two tents and a couple long tables for the bake sale items as well as any crafts that you might want to showcase.

If anyone has a large cooler or two that we can use that would be great! We will be selling water as well and want to keep it cold!

Dig deep in your closest and do that summer purge to make money for the Women’s Group!!!

If you know of anyone that can’t make the sale but has items that they would like to donate; please let me know and I will see about picking them up for them.

ou Most importantly let’s enjoy some great comradery and fun on the 5th!!!
