Nehemiah Gateway USA has been a member of the Nehemiah Gateway Team since 2015.

NG works primarily in Albania with educational projects and humanitarian outreach impacting a growing number of countries in Europe, Africa and Latin America.

As we move forward at NG into 2026, I want to simply thank you. Thank you for faithfulness, prayers, encouragement, and generosity. Knowing that you choose to walk alongside this work, often quietly and consistently, is something I hold with deep gratitude.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of serving NG in daily operations. I initially served as Financial Director and later as Executive Director, while also acting as President of the Board during my time as Executive Director. Along the way, I also have had the joy of teaching financial accounting at NGU, investing in the next generation of international leaders. Being close to both the people and the mission in these different roles has been a gift. At this point, I am stepping out of the Executive Director role while continuing to serve as Board President, remaining personally invested in the vision and values that guide NG.

I am grateful to entrust day-to-day leadership to Joana Mimini, someone many of you already know as our former Program Director. Watching her grow from a student at NGU into a trusted leader within NG in Albania, then Germany and now in the US, has been a joy. She leads with compassion, humility, and a deep love for the people we serve, and I have great confidence in her.

Thank you for continuing to partner with us. I am looking ahead in great anticipation of this next chapter in NG’s mission of bringing dignity and independence to people and communities through faithful service, innovative education and compassionate care. With our staff, board, and supporters beside us, we move forward with thankful hearts.

Every few months, our team at Nehemiah Gateway distributes food packages to people that are in need. Whether they live in remote villages, or just down the road from our campus, many Albanians around the region have trouble makes ends meet.

With the help of Johanniter Unfallhilfe in Bavaria, Germany, nearly 400 vulnerable families received practical help at a critical moment.

Education shapes more than grades; it shapes lives. In Albania’s competitive school system, Nehemiah Gateway believes students should be equipped not just to succeed, but to flourish and bless others.

Alongside academics, NG schools (Shkolla Nehemia - Faqja Zyrtare and Amaro Tan) invest in personal growth through mentoring, strong relationships, and a culture of trust. From weekly one-on-one mentoring at Shkolla NEHEMIA to continued support at Amaro Tan, students are reminded they belong and are worth long-term investment.

Small, consistent care builds confident, hopeful futures.

The Amaro Tan Christmas event was full of festive cheer! The students put on a program for their fellow students, teachers, and some parents. Then they left for the holiday break with small gift boxes.

Four of our values are respect, integrity, forgiveness, and compassion. There are many moments during our daily work that we strive hard to transmit these values in the purest and most sincere way to other people. The Christmas celebration for women who are part of our Social and Medical Improvement program is one of these daily moments, where almost every woman in that room feels included, free, treasured, beautiful, powerful and many other emotions which are difficult for them to have in their daily life.

Throwback Thursday: Winter in Buçimas.

In recent years, the weather has been quite mild, nothing like some of the winters in the early 2000s. Back then, it was not uncommon for meter-high snowdrifts to pile up outside the gates, all the water pipes to freeze, and the roads to be impassable... challenging! Distributing Christmas parcels in villages was a real adventure – but that hasn't changed to this day. Of course, the snow always brings with it a wonderful, peaceful atmosphere that prepares us for Christmas.

The after-school program at Amaro Tan is in place to help children better understand their academic work. Dedicated teachers work with the students in small groups to ensure that they are learning the material.

After 17 years, NG University has celebrated its final graduation - a beautiful evening marking both farewell and fresh beginnings. Though the doors of NGU have closed, its spirit lives on through NG 4U, a new way of walking alongside people with personalized support in education, social services, and empowerment.

Here’s to the hundreds of lives changed - and the many more still to come.

We are well into the school year in Albania. In Gjirokaster, this means that children continue to come to our center and after a warm lunch, they spend time finishing their homework, and playing games and spending time with one another. When the weather is nice the game time is spent outside, but as the temperatures get colder and the rain comes through they will stay indoors playing Uno, or educational games.
