OUR LAST OPEN DAY IS HERE!!! We close the door at 3pm.
Come in, say goodbye, and still get a "good buy" (Purchase)!

On February 28, 2026, after nearly 10 years of meritorious service with the support of and for the
greater Estes Valley community, the Village Thrift Shop, Inc. (VTS) declares mission accomplished as
the doors are locked and the premier thrift shop on Manford Avenue in Estes Park passes from reality
to memory. And for the tenth time, this is the last call. Also on February 28, applications for the 2026
VTS grant funding cycle will be available for charitable organizations providing services to the Estes
Valley community. Non-profits determined by the Internal Revenue Service to operate as a 501(c)(3)
and registered in good standing with the Colorado Secretary of State are encouraged to complete and
submit a request to the Village Thrift Shop for funding by March 31, 2026. After review by the VTS
Board of Directors, grant funds will be distributed in early April.
Grant applications and guidelines are posted for download at the VTS website,
www.epvillagethrift.org/grant-application. The guidelines should be reviewed and the completed
application package should be returned via mail or e-mail and received on or before March 31 to be
considered.
The Village Thrift Shop is a non-profit corporation that generates revenue through the resale of
donated goods. Generous donors, considerate business partners, a dedicated all-volunteer staff, and
loyal patrons support VTS profit sharing. Over the past nine years, $1,498,737 has been distributed to
qualified nonprofits providing critical services and beneficial programs in the Estes Valley. The final
2026 allocation will be the largest annual grant total exceeding $250,000.
Every year for the past decade, the all-volunteer staff at Village Thrift Shop freely gave over 9,000
hours of personal time in order to process a bounty of donated, sellable goods from residents and
visitors alike. These goods were made available and subsequently purchased by first time and regular
customers from near and far. And all net revenue was shared with non-profits in and around Estes
Park.
Thank you, donors, volunteers and patrons! Donations to dollars by and for community. And now, it’s
time to rest – hard earned and well deserved.
Tony, Connie, Randy, Paula, Denny, Annie, Martha, Stacy, VTS Board & all our great volunteers!

After 10 years serving our community, The Village Thrift Shop will permanently close our doors, at the end of February 2026.

HOWEVER....IT IS NOT THE END of this thrift store story!
Will a thrift shop be in the same location? Yes!
But different? Yes!
Will you be able to donate sale able items locally, in order to help neighbors and others find bargains by shopping locally? Yes!
Will money from these purchases help those in need? Yes!
And YES, volunteers will still be needed, at this newly named and opened store, later this spring.

VTS will have one final month, February 2026, to create as much in dollars as possible, in order to distribute ALL monies to local 501C3s. These funds will be distributed in qualifying grants this spring. Donations can continue through February, since we plan to continue with regular hours and donation times.
So stay tuned, more news as it becomes available.

The Village Thrift Shop opened in 2016. What started as a small group of volunteers has grown to over 55 volunteers. With no paid staff, the over 90,000 hours donated has been instrumental in the Village Thrift Shop being able to help support non-profit organizations in the Estes Valley.

The volunteer hours, combined with the generous donations of assorted merchandise for resale, have allowed the Village Thrift Shop to award over 1.5 million dollars in grants.

With our average volunteer age of 73 years young, many of our core group and the board, felt this was the right time (for us) to finally close our doors and move on to enjoying retirement.

Thank you all for your support over the last 10 years!
