Hurricane Dorian Update
Monday, September 2

What We Know
There are no watches or warnings posted for Estero. There are no evacuation notices either. We do not anticipate a hurricane watch to be posed at any time for Hurricane Dorian. Forecasters are telling us that we can expect some rain and high wind gusts (25-40 mph) on Tuesday and Wednesday. Some forecasters are projecting 1-3 inches of rain over the next couple of days. Thursday and Friday forecasts are for little or no rain and sunny skies. Rain bands from Hurricane Dorian can reach and probably will reach Villagio. Further to our east there is a Tropical Storm Warning, but those winds are not expected to impact us. The storm has moved north of our latitude therefore we are not in any cone nor is there any anticipation that something will change to reverse the storm’s path toward us.

If you have a situation where you need help, please contact the Villagio Gate House on the emergency number 239/390-0332. Let them know what you emergency is and they will contact the proper people to assist you, if possible.

What to Expect
• At this time you can expect to see a relatively normal rain pattern with a little heavier rain this afternoon, Tuesday and Wednesday.

• The furniture at the pools and the Cafe Verona and Club Room have been removed to protect them from any potential damage. It is anticipated that the furniture will be returned to these locations on Thursday, September 5.

• Office hours at the Villagio Property Management Office will be as normal -- 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. On Friday the office will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. If you need to contact the office call 239/949-9650.

• The Cafe Verona, Bar Amici and Cinema Delfino are also open normal hours and will continue to do so. If the weather were to deteriorate they will close to allow staff to be with family.

• The Villagio Gate House remains open and operational. The Gate House would close if winds reach a sustain 30 mph. This is not anticipated at this time.

Villagio Events
• Boston Bob’s Tuesday Night Dinner has been canceled for Tuesday, September 3. The dinner was scrubbed because of the uncertainty of having power available to cook the meal.

• The Villagio at Estero Condominium Association’s Board of Directors meeting will be held as scheduled on Thursday, September 5 at 7 p.m. in the Cinema Delfino. The meeting notice will be posted 48 hours ahead of the meeting.

For More Information
If you need additional information please contact the Villagio Property Management Office at 239/949-9650.

Good evening -

Due to the uncertainty of Tropical Storm Dorian and the path it may or may not take across southwest Florida we are cancelling the Villagio Labor Day Weekend Party that was scheduled for Sunday, September 1. The current information indicates that the storm may not be a hurricane event, but more of a wind (30-40 mph) and rain event.

If you have already signed up for the party and paid for your meal, please stop by the Villagio Property Management Office for a full refund. We hope this change in schedule does not pose an inconvenience to you.

Please watch your email over the next several days as we monitor Tropical Storm Dorian and the potential impacts it may have on our community. As in the past we will try to keep you apprised of the weather situation as it impacts Villagio.

Have a great evening.

Villagio Hurricane Update #8
Tuesday, September 12, 2017, 1 p.m

Open Grill
Beginning at 4 p.m. at the Club Room we will have the three Villagio Grills up and running for anyone who has food they would like to cook or grill. The grills will be available until 7 p.m. We will continue to offer the grills for use of Villagio residents until such time as the power is restored to the community. If you have extra food you would like to share that would also be acceptable. Also Boston Bob is preparing ravioli for dinner as well, please come and partake.

Roads and Ponds
The roads and ponds are receding. The roads still have water, but not as bad. Drivers still need to be careful when driving through the water. Several roads have deep chuck holes in them due to the road resurfacing project. Be careful driving

Generators/Grills
If you are using a generator in the community please be advised that the Estero Fire Department requires that all generators be placed a minimum of 20 feet from the building. The fire department is coming through the community on regular basis. The Association will also have a patrol looking for gas grills, charcoal grills, generators and other similar items. If found you will be asked to move the generator to an approved location and asked to turn off the grills and remove them from the property. Propane and charcoal grilling is not permiteed. If you are told to stop using the grill and do not it will result in a $100 fine from the Assocaition. The fire department will be doing the same.

Pools Closed
Both Villagio pools are closed to swimming. The Lee County Health Department has notified us that using the pools without the pumps running is a health hazard. Anyone caught using the pool will be asked to leave immediately.

Boil Water
The precautionary boil water notice has been lifted.

Cafe Verona and Bar Amici
The Cafe Verona and Bar Amici is closed today and tomorrow (September 12 and 13)

Next VIllagio Hurricane Update
The next update will be emailed to all Villagio residents when we have additional information available.

Villagio Hurricane Update #6, Monday, September 11, 2017, 1 p.m.

What Happened
Since the last Villagio Hurricane Update we have been on quite a ride. Winds in excess of 100 miles per hour, heavy rain, rising pond water, flooded roads and a power outage that began yesterday at 11:57 a.m. Most of the remnants of the hurricane are out of here, but we still have high winds (30-40 mph) and a little bit of rain. We did not get the storm surge that was anticipated. In a quick inspection of the property we have some trees down, palm fronds all over the place which are blocking roads and driveways. We have a tree down on a car and one or two in the road.

Roads and Ponds
The roads in the community are littered with debris. Crews will begin working on the mess as soon as it is save to be out and about on the property. The ponds are full, some overspilling their banks, but not causing danger of flooding into condo units. The Town Center is flooded, the roads have about a foot of water on them. The park behind the mailboxes is full of water, but draining slowly. The sidewalks in some spots are flooded and the pools are full of water. There is a lot of work to do to get everything cleaned up and back to normal.

What We Know
Hurricane Irma hit us with the eye wall with winds pulverizing the palm trees and other plants. We know that some of the roofs leaked and that some of the roof tiles were blown off. We will assess all of this damage when daylight gets here. We have some photos that show damage and road debris, but we cannot download them because of the power outage.
Power Loss and Recovery
The loss of power in the community leaves us without direct access to the Internet and delayed us from getting this notice to you sooner. The power is expected to take some time to restore. We have heard everything from 24-36 hours to a week or more. Getting the power restored will go a long way to solving our communication issues as well as getting back to normal.

After the Storm
The Club Room will be available on Monday afternoon and evening. The Association’s three grills will be set up for those who would like to use them to grill food. The grills will be locked when not in use by the Association, so you need to make arrangements to use them when they are available.

Security Gates
The Villagio Gate House remains closed. The entrance and exit gates are locked opened to allow traffic to flow in and out of the community. Random security checks as well as the Lee County Sheriff’s Department road patrol will provide a presence in the community during this time. The Gate House will reopen after the hurricane emergency is over. Once winds reach 40 mph all emergency services will be suspended.

Cafe Verona and Bar Amici
The Cafe Verona and Bar Amici is closed today and tomorrow (September 11 and 12)

Next VIllagio Hurricane Update
The next update will be emailed to all Villagio residents when we have additional information available.

HURRICANE IRMA UPDATE #5, SEPTEMBER 9, 2017, 5 P.M.

Storm Surge
Local discussion concerning storm surge has been on everyone’s mind this afternoon. The Weather Channel and Weather Service are indicating that Villagio may feel the impact of storm surge from the Gulf of Mexico. There is continual assessment of storm surge and it will continue to be looked at frequently. Currently the mandatory evacuation area appears to be just to the west of US-41 according to Lee County Emergency Management at 3 p.m.

Tornado Watches/Warnings
In addition to storm surge Villagio is under a tornado watch through the end of the day today, Saturday, September 9. While tornadoes are common during a hurricane event, they just add another thing to be watchful of while you wait out the storm. We expect to have tornado warnings throughout the hurricane event.

What We Know
Hurricane Irma is currently a Category 3 hurricane near Cuba, but it is expected to increase to a Category 4 storm before it reaches Villagio. Estero is currently under a hurricane watch. Everything that can be either tied down or put away has been dealt with.

Power Loss and Recovery
If power is lost in the community it is anticipated that we will make the grills in Town Center available on a limited basis after the storm passes. The availability of the grills will be announced in a Villagio Hurricane Update. Internet communication may also be reduced or eliminated due to power interruption. We will try to give you as much information as possible through the storm and immediately after. Residents are encouraged to fill a bathtub with water for use in flushing toilets, washing hands, etc. If power is lost at the pumping stations water will not be available.

After the Storm
The Club Room will be available, when and if possible, on Monday and Tuesday. Exact times will be announced in future Villagio Hurricane Updates. Dollar Hot Dog Night has been canceled on Monday, September 11. The Villagio Ladies Luncheon has also been canceled.

The Cafe Verona and Bar Amici is closed today. The Cafe Verona and Bar Amici will also be closed on Sunday, September 10 and Monday, September 11. There will be no movie on Sunday.

Next VIllagio Hurricane Update
The next update will be emailed to all Villagio residents on Sunday, September 11 at 5 p.m.
