If you love exploring the CREW trails, this opportunity is for you!

We are nearing the end of our 2026-2027 CREW Trails Sponsorship campaign but weโ€™re still about $10,000 short of our fundraising goal.

This annual fundraiser helps ensure CREW Trustโ€™s staff and volunteers are equipped and resourced to maintain CREWโ€™s four different trail systems โ€“ more than 44 miles of mixed-use trails that provide endless opportunities for outdoor exploration for visitors of all ages, interests and abilities.

When visitors to any of CREWโ€™s 14 different trails in Lee and Collier counties see your name or logo on the CREW Trails Sponsor signs located at all six of our trailhead locations, theyโ€™ll know you care deeply about protecting places where wild things still roam, waters run clean, and where people can still find peace in nature.

Weโ€™d love to have your support as a CREW Trails Sponsor for 2026-2027. If youโ€™re interested, you can contact [email protected] to learn more, or simply send in the registration form or register online at https://crewtrust.org/donate/

Amanda Adams, a local forager and Florida Master Naturalist, gave a phenomenal kickoff presentation for our summer lecture series on the best edible and medicinal plants here in SWFL! ๐ŸŒฟ

From teas to salves to salads, Amanda discussed the many ways the plants we may often think of as weeds can be used to benefit both humans and wildlife alike! ๐ŸŒธ

Thank you to our participants for joining, to the Bonita Springs Public Library for hosting, and to Amanda for kicking off our summer series with a flourish! ๐Ÿฅณ

Happy World Otter Day! ๐Ÿฆฆ๐Ÿฅณ

North American river otters (Lontra canadensis) are medium-sized, semiaquatic mammals with a thick coat of brown fur and sharp claws and teeth!

These voracious carnivores are often seen in family groups and can be found fishing in freshwater canals, rivers, and lakes year-round across FL, including at all 4 CREW trail systems ๐Ÿ’ง

These native weasels might look cute, but theyโ€™ve been known to bite! Their diet of choice is crayfish and fish, but theyโ€™re quick to defend themselves when approached!

Be sure to always give CREW wildlife plenty of space when out on the trails! โš ๏ธ

Education update! ๐ŸŒŸ

Our Education Team just completed another fantastic semester of Soil ROCKS!, our spring field trip to CREW for 2nd graders! ๐ŸŒฟ

During the field trip, students become โ€œsoil scientistsโ€ for the day as they investigate the soils of 3 CREW habitats, as well as completing a species scavenger hunt and a skull identification activity. Not your average day in the classroom!

This spring, 513 students attended 15 field trips to the CREW trails for Soil Rocks! This brings our total for the 2025-26 field trip season to 26 field trips and 884 students! What a great season! ๐Ÿฅณ
โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”
Both Soil ROCKS! and our fall field trip, Walk through a Watershed, are available at no cost to the schools thanks to the generous patronage of our CREW Trust members and sponsors! ๐Ÿ’š
