The Longears Safehouse A registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt equine rescue (EIN # 46-0907101), we specialize in the needs of donkeys, mules, and hinnies.

Please consult our website for info regarding adoption requirements and adoptable equines: longearssafehouse.org We take in donkeys in need mostly from domestic situations, rehabilitate donkeys that have experienced abuse, mishandling or neglect, and adopt out donkeys into suitable homes under an adoption contract. We also sometimes assist with private rescue missions (such as providing trailering

services), provide consultation for donkey owners with questions about training and care, and follow up on our adoptions with any assistance adopters may need.

And we have another piece of good news! Pia & Astrid have an adoption pending to a great home in Edgewood. They will stay with us for a few more weeks as their adopters finalize their set-up. Go Pia & Astrid!

Another great Mountainair Sunflower Festival. We made roughly as much as last year in donations and sales, and mini donkeys Ace and Eeyore played a crucial role in that. Many, many thanks to Malorie, Lorrie, Norm, Katy, and Justin for helping, and to Katy and Justin for fundraising for us with their super cute mini donkeys. And we loved seeing people walking around with our T-shirts!

Rano is content. He's learning to enjoy blankets on the ground, and he loves to watch the equines when they're close to his fence. Last night he, for the first time, wore a doggie coat to keep him warm during the storm. He loves to take a walk on the leash every day, and he's learning to "heel".
