🐾 MEET CHANCE - SHE’S GETTING A SECOND CHANCE 🐾

Many of you may have seen this little kitten posted in the Estacada Locals Facebook group after she was found on a rural property with a severely injured tail and back leg ❤️‍🩹

Cases like this bring unexpected expenses for our rescue, but sometimes it’s impossible to turn a blind eye when we know we can find a way to help, even if that means asking our supporters for help, too.

So, today, Chance officially became a Boring Safe Haven kitty.

We’re about 95% sure Chance is a girl!
With the amount of trauma to her back end, it’s difficult to be completely certain. She was initially thought to be a boy, and we chose the name Chance because it felt fitting, and regardless, the name is staying!

Despite everything she’s endured, Chance has been nothing but a tiny lover. She’s incredibly sweet, affectionate, and trusting 💕🥺

At the vet today, she received pain medication, a physical exam, X-rays, flea treatment, and her first vaccine.
Unfortunately, the X-rays confirmed that her tail is severely fractured and will need to be amputated. Her back left leg is also badly fractured and displaced. We initially hoped it could be saved, but amputation is now expected for the leg as well 💔

💰 Today’s vet visit: just over $500
💰 Estimated surgery: $1,052.09–$1,256.92

Her spay will come later, once she has recovered from the double amputation.

For tonight, Chance is staying comfortably at the vet. Tomorrow, she’ll head to a foster home to rest, settle in, and await surgery sometime next week.

Now, we’re asking for your help. This was certainly not an expense we anticipated, but Chance deserves so much more than the hand she’s been dealt.

If you’re able, please consider donating toward her surgery and veterinary care. Every dollar helps, and every share matters.

Hopefully, before long, Chance will simply be a happy three-legged kitty with a little nub for a tail, running around like none of this ever happened🐾

Help us give Chance the second chance she deserves 💗🍀

🐾 SO. MANY. KITTENS. 😻 🐾

If you’ve been thinking about adding a kitten (or two 👀) to your family, this might be your sign!

We currently have 11 adorable kittens, all between just 3–5 months old, waiting for their forever homes ❤️
They are separated below by their litters👇

🌺 Bali — 4 months ; bio included in photo caption
🌸 Fiji — 4 months ; bio included in photo caption

🧡 Patches — 4 months ; bio included in posted photo

🌱 Wasabi — 3 months ; bio included in photo caption

And yes…. our 4- and 5-month-olds are still very much kittens! They’re playful, goofy, curious, and have plenty of kittenhood left to enjoy. The bonus? At this age, their personalities are really starting to shine, which makes it a little easier to find the perfect match for your family 🥰

Some of these babies would LOVE to go home with a friend, while others would be happy joining a home that already has a playful companion. We’re happy to help you figure out who might be the best fit!

All of our kittens are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines before adoption 🩺🐾

💰 Adoption fee: $150 for one or $250 for two

Every share helps these babies reach their future families, even if you can’t adopt, please help us spread the word! ❤️

🐾 An Important Update Regarding Feral Cat Assistance 🐾

This is a post we genuinely wish we didn’t have to make.

For the last several years, The Boring Safe Haven has been more than willing to help when members of our community reach out about feral cat colonies. We’ve spent countless hours trapping, often late into the night and early morning, coordinating appointments, transporting cats, covering expenses, and doing everything we can to help get colonies under control.

Unfortunately, after several difficult experiences, particularly within Clackamas County, we’ve reached a point where we need to change how we provide this assistance.

Our volunteers have invested significant amounts of their own time, money, resources, and many sleepless nights into helping colonies, only to sometimes be met with unreasonable expectations, frustration, and a lack of appreciation. We can only stretch ourselves so far before it begins taking resources away from the other animals depending on us. We don’t get paid to do TNR, Clackamas County doesn’t provide funding to us, nor do we obtain grants for TNR. The funds used on TNR are solely from the donations we receive.

Going forward, we will no longer coordinate TNR appointments or allocate our rescue funding for feral cat colonies.

If you are feeding or caring for a colony and would like our assistance, we ask that you first schedule an appointment directly with the Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon (FCCO). Once an appointment is secured, we are still happy to assist with trapping when availability allows. Coordinating dates with FCCO that line up with our availability is most ideal if you’d like our help. Transportation, donations to FCCO, and other logistics will be at the discretion and responsibility of the person(s) caring for the colony unless otherwise agreed upon.

We also want to emphasize why TNR is so incredibly important.

If you have a feral colony and kittens continue appearing year after year, the adult cats have to be trapped and fixed. Taking in litter after litter of kittens while leaving the adults unfixed does not solve the problem - it guarantees that the cycle will continue.

The goal of rescue is not only to help the animals in front of us, but to address the problem at its source.

That means getting adult cats spayed/neutered is of the utmost importance, while also giving young feral kittens who can be socialized the opportunity to become adoptable and find loving indoor homes.

Helping one litter is wonderful. Preventing the next five litters from being born is how we create lasting change.

❗️A few important clarifications:

If we have already been in direct contact with you and committed to helping with your colony, we will honor that commitment. This change applies to new requests moving forward.

This also does not apply to single (or even a couple) feral cats, feral moms with kittens or litters of kittens found without a mom. We will continue to help in these situations whenever foster space and resources allow. Colonies reaching 10+ cats is where these issues are surfacing.

For new feral colony requests, our role will primarily be providing resources and guidance and, when possible, assistance with trapping once an FCCO appointment has been secured.

This decision was not made lightly. We will always advocate for TNR and will continue doing everything reasonably within our power to help cats in our community. But rescue has to be a partnership. We’re simply asking those requesting our help to meet us halfway.

Thank you to everyone who has treated our volunteers with kindness, patience, gratitude, and respect. We appreciate you more than you know 🐾❤️

🎉 SOME VERY DESERVING FACES STILL AWAITING! 🎉

🖤 OUR ADULT BLACK CATS 🖤

Black cats have historically been some of the most overlooked cats in shelters and rescues, and unfortunately, we’re seeing that firsthand. Some of these beautiful cats receive very little interest, and it genuinely makes us sad because we know the incredible personalities behind these little black faces. The majority of these now adult cats we’ve had since they were just tiny kittens!

They aren’t “just another black cat.” Each one is an individual with their own personality, quirks, story, and perfect family out there somewhere 🖤

So please meet our little house-panther crew:

🐈‍⬛ Luci — Female, almost 3 years old
🐈‍⬛ Sapphire — Female, almost 1½ years old
🐈‍⬛ Diamond — Female, almost 1½ years old
🐈‍⬛ Willow — Female tuxedo, 3 years old
🐈‍⬛ Stella — Female, almost 1 year old
🐈‍⬛ Mr. Mousse — Male, just over 1½ years old
🐈‍⬛ Papaya — Female, 2 years old

We’re here to showcase these cats individually and let you get to know who they actually are. Because a photo of a black cat simply can’t capture the personality behind it 🥹

We know black cats sometimes have to wait a little longer to be noticed, but we’re hoping our community can help us change that for these seven. Their bios are included in their pictures captions!

Maybe your future best friend is hiding somewhere in this post 🖤🐾

If you’re interested in adopting, please send us a message! And if adoption isn’t in the cards right now, please consider sharing. Sometimes all it takes is one share reaching the right person to change an animal’s entire life.

Let’s get some more ADOPTED! 🏡🖤🐾🐈‍⬛

🏝️ TWO ISLAND GIRLS STILL SEARCHING FOR THEIR FUREVER HOMES! 🏝️

Our beautiful Bali & Fiji are the last two kittens from our Island Litter still waiting to find their forever families! 💕🐾

🌺 FIJI
Fiji is a gorgeous little tuxedo girl with the perfect balance of independence and affection. She does great with other animals and would happily join a home with friendly cats or dogs. We also think Fiji could do well as a single kitty! She can be independent and entertain herself, but she still seeks out affection from her people when she’s ready for some love 🥰

🌺 BALI
And then… there’s Bali…..

Bali is our resident tiny tornado 🌪️ and we’re still searching for the location of her off switch. So far, no luck 🤪 This girl LOVES to play and has energy for days!
Because of her energy level, Bali would do best in a home with another playful, energetic kitty who can keep up with her. A playful dog could also be a good companion, although another kitty would be our preference.

If your current pets have been getting a little too comfortable and you’d like someone to come in and give them a run for their money… Bali is your girl! 😂

Both girls are:
🩷 4 months old
🐾 Spayed
💉 Up-to-date on vaccines
✨ Microchipped
🏡 Ready for their forever homes!

Adoption Fees:
💕 $150 for one
💕 $250 if Bali & Fiji are adopted together

📍 PLEASE NOTE: Bali and Fiji are currently being fostered in separate foster homes. If you’re interested in meeting both girls, you will need to visit two different foster homes.

These sweet girls have watched the rest of their Island siblings find their families, and now it’s finally their turn 🥹🏝️

Please share and help us find the perfect homes for Bali & Fiji!

🐾 ASTRO & ELROY ARE LOOKING FOR THEIR FUREVER HOMES! 🐾

These two handsome boys are officially back on the search for their families 🩵💙🩵💙

Astro and Elroy had previously been spoken for and were supposed to head to their forever home together, but unfortunately, that didn’t pan out due to the boys having spent the last few weeks battling some stubborn diarrhea, so we’ve been focused on getting their tummies back on track.

But now it’s time to put these sweet faces back out there! 🏡

🌟 ASTRO (mostly orange with white paws) is quite the little character. He is incredibly talkative and always has something to say! He loves affection, has one heck of a purr motor, and is just as happy snuggling up with you as he is running around playing. He truly is the perfect mixture of sweet, silly, playful, and affectionate 🩵

🚀 ELROY (white & orange) isn’t as talkative, although he’ll definitely tell you what’s on his mind when he feels like it! He absolutely loves to play and is our resident little wild child. He’s energetic, entertaining, affectionate, and guaranteed to keep you laughing 💙

We would LOVE to see Astro and Elroy adopted together. They already know and love one another, and honestly, two kittens are often easier than one when they can wear each other out! 😅

That said, we are open to adopting them separately as long as their new home has another confident, playful kitty who can keep them company and match their energy level. Neither of these boys would be a great fit as an only kitty.

🩺 A quick health update:
We are still waiting for their diarrhea to completely resolve. They have now finished their second course of medication, and we’re hopeful that over the coming days/week, their stools will finally return to normal.

We are comfortable allowing them to be adopted while we continue to monitor this. If their diarrhea persists after adoption, our rescue will continue working with their adopters and can provide additional medication/treatment as needed to get them fully cleared. We don’t want their stubborn little tummies to stand in the way of finding the families they deserve!

✨ Both boys right around 5 months old, are fully vetted, and ready for their next chapter!
🐾 Neutered
🐾 Up-to-date on vaccines
🐾 Microchipped
🐾 Recently received flea prevention

💰 Adoption Fees:
$150 for one
$250 if Astro & Elroy are adopted together ❤️

🐾 THE UPDATE WE’VE BEEN LONG OVERDUE TO SHARE: KAIDA & GRIFFON ARE HOME! 🏡💛

We know it’s been quite a few months since we’ve given everyone an update on Kaida, and after so many of you followed her story, donated toward her care, sent words of encouragement, and rooted for her every step of the way, we’re so excited to finally share some very happy news.

Kaida and her brother Griffon have officially been adopted, together, by the incredible family who fostered them through it all. 🥹❤️

Kaida’s journey was anything but easy. This tiny girl came to us with significant injuries to her pelvis, spine, and hip, and there were so many unknowns about what her future would look like. She eventually underwent surgery on her left hip and had a long road of healing and recovery ahead of her.

Through every appointment, every worry, every milestone, and every part of her recovery, her foster family was there.

And they weren’t just there for Kaida….they opened their home and hearts to her brother Griffon, too, making sure these two got to stay together through everything. Somewhere along the way, “foster family” simply became family 🥹

Today, Kaida is doing extremely well! She’ll be heading back to the vet within the next week or so to check on her progress, but otherwise she is living the happy, healthy, and very loved life we hoped so desperately she would have.

And despite everything this little girl has endured, she is still one of the sweetest, snuggliest little kitties 💕 She truly is something special.

There aren’t enough ways for us to express our gratitude to Kaida and Griffon’s family. What they were willing to take on for these two, especially throughout Kaida’s medical journey, means more to us than we could ever put into words. They gave them patience, security, love, and a home when they needed it most, and now they’ve given them that home forever.

To everyone who followed Kaida’s story, donated, shared our posts, checked in on her, and helped us get her to this point: thank you. You were a part of this story, too.

After everything Kaida went through, we couldn’t have asked for a happier ending.

Happy forever, Kaida & Griffon. You are so incredibly loved. 🐾❤️

🐾 BELLA & HER BABIES ARE OFFICIALLY READY FOR ADOPTION! 🐾

Our little family has reached a big milestone! 🥹 Last week, Bella’s kittens: Lamb Chop, Bunny, Panther & Mouse were all spayed/neutered, which means they’re officially ready to start finding their forever homes! 🏡💕

They are now roughly 10 weeks old! The pictures of them. Here are from when they were a bit smaller.

🐰 Bunny: Female, ON HOLD pending adoption
🐑 Lamb Chop: Female, ON HOLD pending adoption
🐈‍⬛ Panther: Male & Available!
🐭 Mouse: Male & Available!

While Bunny and Lamb Chop already have families lined up, Panther and Mouse are still patiently waiting for someone to choose them. ❤️

They’ve grown into such adorable little personalities, and we would love nothing more than to see Panther and Mouse find the perfect families to call their own. They can be a little nervous and shy, but with patience and love we definitely foresee them blossoming into the best companions.

✨ And we saved the best for last… Mama Bella! ✨

Now that her job raising her babies is complete, Bella is officially ready for adoption too! 🥹❤️

Bella is such a sweet, unique-looking girl who absolutely loves attention. After taking such good care of her babies, it’s finally her turn to be spoiled and loved by a family of her very own.
We estimate that she is about 3 years old.

So whether you’re looking for a playful kitten or a sweet mama who is ready to soak up all the attention, Bella, Panther & Mouse are waiting to meet you! 🐾

Please help us spread the word by sharing this post! Their forever families might just be one share away. ❤️

As a reminder our adoption fees are $150 for one kitten or $250 for two kittens going home together.
Bella’s adoption fee is $100.
They are all spayed/neutered, have the appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and flea treated/dewormed as needed.
