🚨Dear Maryland Chapter Members,
It’s time once again to nominate candidates for our Section leadership positions — and we invite you to consider stepping forward! Our Section (and our Chapter) is built on the energy, ideas, and involvement of members like you.
Our Mid-Atlantic Section has a need for the following Officer positions:
• Governor: She runs Section and Board meetings, makes sure everyone follows the bylaws, and ensures officers and committees do their jobs. She also appoints committee chairs (unless someone else is designated to do so) and serves as the main spokesperson for the Section, carrying out the wishes of the members.
• Vice Governor: She helps the Governor with her duties and steps in to lead meetings or handle responsibilities whenever the Governor is unavailable.
• Secretary: She keeps the official records safe - including the charter, bylaws, and meeting notes. She documents what happens at meetings, records important decisions, and handles other record-keeping and reporting tasks as described in the rules.
• Treasurer: The Treasurer manages the Section's finances. She keeps track of income and expenses and prepares an annual budget for approval, reports on the financial status at meetings, and ensures bills and approved expenses are paid.
• Two Directors: Directors are Board Members who help make decisions and serve as a link between the Section Board, local chapters, and committees. They may take on special assignments from the Governor or projects outlined in the Section's rules.
According to Section 4, Nominations, of our Mid-Atlantic Section Bylaws, the only requirement for eligibility is that nominees must be active members of The Ninety-Nines, Inc., and must have been members of the Mid-Atlantic Section for at least six months preceding the nomination. That’s it — leadership is open to all of us.
We need leaders who reflect our diverse and dynamic community. That leader could be you. We need you—step up! If you don't have any experience leading anything, the current Officers are here to help transition you into your new role. The camaraderie is amazing to see and feel in our organization.
Serving at the Section level is a wonderful way to connect with more Ninety-Nines, build lasting friendships, and strengthen your leadership and organizational skills. It’s also deeply rewarding to play a part in shaping the future of our Section and supporting women pilots throughout our region.
Please consider nominating yourself (or another member with their consent) for an officer position. Please email your nominations to Naomi Koehler and Maria Esparraguera (cc'd).
Thank you for stepping up and keeping our Section strong!
