Essex Community Historical Society Welcome! We are a historical society and museum where visitors can experience local history from the town of Essex & City of Essex Junction

Come visit the Harriet Farnsworth Powell Historical Museum in the heart of Essex Town, Vermont, located at the intersection of Route 15 & 128. The museum is open every Sunday from June 5th through October 9th and the second Saturday of each month. Our hours are from 1-4pm. Inside the little white school house you will find a treasure trove of unique artifacts and exhibits that showcase Essex cultu

ral history including vintage photos, toys and dolls from the Vermont Toy Factory, antique clothing ,maple sugaring, Vermonters in the Civil War and much more! We have historical walks and several events each year that allows us to bring history to you!

Fun for the summer: Seven town historical societies in Addison County, VT, and one in Chittenden County, have teamed up on this "A Passport to History." For the 250th anniversary of our nation, these societies are encouraging peole to look at some of the locally important historic locations in towns. Chimney Point State Historic Site in Addison, VT, is one of the locations in the town of Addison. Passports can be picked up at the Bixby Library in Vergennes, VT, and in selected locations in each town. When you've been to look at all the sites in each town, you can claim a button with a historic image. Collect all eight buttons.

Essex Area Senior Center Grand Reopening!

Come see what's new and discover all the exciting programs and opportunities we have to offer. From 11:30 AM–12:30 PM, explore our programs, meet staff and volunteers, and learn about upcoming activities.

Then stick around for live music from 12:30 PM–2:00 PM. We will have food and giveaways available starting at 11:30am while supplies last!
